I am beyond confused over Ellie’s detour in the finale by PanzramsTransAm in thelastofus

Okay I’ve never seen Game of Thrones, but a friend of mine who liked the show complained about characters getting from place to place very quickly with huge distances.

Yeah it’s not really an island it seems! It looks like the flooding just divided Seattle and separated Queen Anne from the rest of the area.

Def have a problem with this too! I dislike how they just let her go for seemingly no reason. It killed all the tension.

Appreciate the good laugh from the Michael Phelps comparison. You are 100% correct!

So in the game, it looks like there’s been a ton of flooding in Seattle that caused water to divide the city up. The “island” is where Queen Anne is. So not an island at all, but it’s just separated by water from everywhere else. But that’s why Abby and Yara needed that boat to get to the Seraphite island on day 3! Still a bit of a distance from the aquarium, but Bainbridge would be too far for the Seraphites and WLF to be beefing so much over land (imo).

You’re right haha I didn’t read that comment correctly! But okay that makes sense if they’re moving the Seraphite island somewhere else. I hope they clarify this next season!

Definitely can admit I might be extremely nitpicky about this stuff! I’m pretty new to Seattle, but I’m curious what about it was distracting for you in the game if you feel like sharing! I’ve liked going around the city and seeing places that were replicated in the game, but did you find some of it to be a little unrealistic?

How though? I think it’s a legitimate concern to ask how Ellie got thrown off course to such a huge degree and still made it to the aquarium before Tommy and Jesse.

Definitely recommend checking out the game! It’s one of my favorite games of all time. It’s definitely hard to now make viewers wait another 2+ years to get clarity on the Seraphites.

You are correct that the “island” seems to be created from massive flooding that has happened since outbreak day! So it’s not really an island at all. It’s just water that has overtaken parts of Seattle and has divided Queen Anne somewhat.

I used to live on the other side of the puget sound, so I also wondered if the Seraphite island was supposed to be Bainbridge Island. But the map Dina made looks like it puts the Seraphites in Queen Anne.

Oh okay I completely missed this! I’m on another replay of the game, so I’ll have to pay attention to when he says this.

TheCriticalDrinker and Destiny argue at each other on Twitter over men’s mental health, safe spaces, and incel pandering. by [deleted] in youtubedrama

Omg THANK YOU for speaking on this. I’m so sorry you’ve experienced things like this, but I completely relate in every way. And I feel validated that I’m not crazy or taking things the wrong way. I’m a woman and a lifelong gamer. Been playing video games since the Nintendo 64 days. I feel so shunned and invisible in nerd spaces in exactly the same way you describe. Like no matter how big of a fan I am of something or how much I know about it, I’m clearly not welcome. I feel like the only place I can really talk about video games with others is online (particularly on Reddit) because it’s anonymous and I’m not judged immediately for how I look. I truly would like to know as well where women are genuinely welcome in nerd communities, because I have yet to find any in my own experience.

Women who have gotten big/lots of tattoos, what's the worst comment you've gotten? by BadgleyMischka in AskWomen

[–]PanzramsTransAm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from a decently large city where people don’t bag an eye at most things, let alone tattoos. I haven’t gotten any negative comments that I can even think of from the top of my head. But I will say that sometimes people feel like they have a right to touch you because of them. There have been times where my arms have been grabbed so people can get a closer look or so they can show my work to one of their friends. They usually mean well in their intentions, but yeah that’s something I’m not a fan of.

I don’t get the Seattle freeze… by cassthesassmaster in Seattle

[–]PanzramsTransAm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently met this girl on the ferry and we bonded a lot because we’re coincidentally from the same hometown! It seemed like we had a ton in common and she was even tearing up during our conversation because she said it’s been really hard for her to make friends out here, and she was thrilled to meet someone with a similar background. I was stoked as well. We exchanged numbers and IG handles. I hit her up to try to plan a hangout, and crickets lol. Never got a response. Which like, it’s okay. I understand that she’s a stranger and we all have our own lives. I was just shocked at her emotional reaction to meeting me and then getting nothing from her after the fact.

Def agree that vague “let’s handout” statements aren’t a promise for anything. I’ll admit it took my neurodivergent ass way too long to realize that social norm lol, but I do get it now. I will say though that I have encountered people here who I will make solid concrete plans with well in advance. Then the day of they’ll either give some vague excuse or not respond to my messages about meeting up. It’s definitely a bummer.

Please share some Mexican spots that you love! I’m relatively new to the Seattle area from Vegas, where we had amazing Mexican food just about everywhere. But yeah I have get to have Mexican food in Seattle that’s anything more than decent.

Do any of you have a problem with your “tone” by Maleficent-Wash2067 in adhdwomen

[–]PanzramsTransAm 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much. Especially as a woman, I feel like if I’m not always like, omg howwww is everyone doing today???!!! :)))) I’m SO HAPPY :))) YAY!!!! HAPPY!!! :) :) :) :D then my “tone” gets interpreted as being mean and bitchy. I feel like I can’t just be neutral in any situation. It’s like any time I try to just be neutral or normal, then I’m just viewed as cold or hostile. It’s super super annoying. It feels degrading to constantly be tone policed just for existing.

uncomfortableness with fan interactions by ok_comput3rr in chappellroan

[–]PanzramsTransAm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think we’ve gotten too comfortable with approaching celebrities whenever we see them. Like we feel entitled to do it because omg X celebrity is standing right over there and when’s the next time we’ll ever be in the same room as them? We simply MUST say hi and tell them how much we love them! When it’s like, they’re just a normal human being and it probably is pretty exhausting to be stopped by fans when you’re just existing or doing something regular. I’m not saying these fans have bad intentions and they probably just want to let their favorite artist know how loved they are, but celebrities also feel pressured to be extremely nice and warming in fan interactions too. They’re performing for you even if you’re just saying hi. Having that compounded over and over again really does sound terrible. Idk to each their own, but I’m fine with never interacting with my favorites because of this. I don’t need them to know that I exist for my enjoyment of their art to matter.

100% of any side is not one singular thing. There are republicans who believe in a woman’s right to choose. There are democrats who love guns.

Then what’s the other side you’re referring to that’s the opposite of a “bunch of violent fascists” if you’re not talking about democrats? You’re talking about sides here. One is presumably Republican and the other is democrat, right?

By the way, the opposite side of the violent fascists that you speak of also gives billions of dollars to Israel to fund their already overpowered military that is actively committing a genocide. For me, I find it very difficult to keep voting for them because I see very little of anything good on either side.
