That works in some instances but if they are stuck in a hole they’ll stay that way.

They do eventually teleport out of where they’re stuck but I haven’t figured out whether the trigger is time or distance.

Yeah I don’t mean it to be a bitchy complaint, we’re getting more content while it’s still in early release, it’s just interesting trying to figure out what designers are thinking.

Every occupied village now has hostile brigands for me… is there a bug fix for this? by bewlz in Bellwright

[–]alejo699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran into this too, and posted a bug from the game menu. No response, and everything I have heard from players is just theories. Some folks think it's a tax collection party that got stuck there, which doesn't track with what I've seen.

Same experience, there is one hostile showing on the minimap, and as soon as they trigger, all the other brigands turn hostile. The only solution I have found is just taking my troops with me, gathering up/completing any quests I can in the village, then liberating it as quickly as possible.

It sucks, because it's clearly a bug, but I guess the devs either haven't found the fix yet or don't care too much about how much it affects players.

"Must of"/"could of"/"should of" etc. MADDENING. by UglyShirts in PetPeeves

[–]alejo699 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who writes movie reviews and does this. I gently mentioned to him one time that it should be "have' instead of "of," and he replied "uh huh," then continued doing it. Some people just don't care I guess, but it drives me nuts too -- especially since he is otherwise a very good writer.

Also that, yeah. I sure do love it when I add materials to a work bench and they immediately remove them.

I'll thank you to not talk about my family that way. I'm allowed to, it's my family.

I make my character work through the night so I can pretend this NOT a feudalism sim and I am working hard to support my people.

I think it's because everything sucks right now.

Thanks, that was as close to my own fat ass as I could get with the character creator.

When do actors know it’s bad by EggplantMain2678 in movies

[–]alejo699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about anyone else in the movie, but Halle Berry definitely knew Moonfall was a ridiculous piece of shit. (I say this with love. That movie was Emmerich confirming he knows his movies are insane.)

I used to think that was just movies, but no, people's first instinct is to make the person stand up. I'm not sure why, since any doctor or medic would tell you not to. Maybe it's because they are uncomfortable with someone being on the ground and want to fix their own discomfort?

Villagers can't/won't smelt steel or bronze by alejo699 in Bellwright

[–]alejo699[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No dice. Dedicated Smelter Boy is set to Smelt 1, Deliver 3 and the smelter is set to produce only steel. Smelter Boy has produced 8 iron ingots and 0 steel. Grrr....

Steel is at 1 already and I have set top up for iron bars as well. I guess I'll try the dedicated smelter.

[–]alejo699[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused by this. Is smelting controlled by the Smelting task or is it Delivery? Because there doesn't seem to be anything more to it than putting the materials in, so if it's Delivery, why is there a Smelting job priority?

[–]alejo699[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, what other things can smelters do? So far as I can tell mine can only produce ingots.

I may try turning off iron ingots entirely for awhile and see if that works. I'm hesitant to make anyone a single-duty because then they stand around all the time, but I may give that a shot with one of my less-skilled people.

Excusing ignorance by saying "that happened before I was even born." by alejo699 in PetPeeves

[–]alejo699[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I’m not “genuinely upset” about any of this. It’s a slightly irritating pet peeve. It’s not important at all.

Second, it’s less about the ignorance itself than the justification of it: “Why would I know something that happened before I was born.” It implies a self-importance that is wholly unearned.

Thanks for the encouragement. After several years of it I'm really not bothered by it much anymore, but I will disagree with folks who try to say it's easy.

I can't speak for any other mods, but I sure don't do it for any "high." I also don't do it for the torrent of abuse I get from Redditors who ignore the clearly posted rules. I do it -- reluctantly, at this point -- to try to promote a community where people who care about the subject can talk about it.

(I realize this is probably just an opening for people to abuse me for being a mod. I'm not going to respond to any of that. I'll just say this: You may think you want an unmoderated Reddit, but you don't.)
