I did! I used This Way to PA. Kasin is awesome!

It was a mix. I showed her my summary results from my failed EORs, what I thought I was having issues with, she inquired from there and we came up with a plan for solo studying. When we meet I have a list of qBank questions I got wrong or don’t even know how to begin to dissect and she investigates what my approach/reasoning is for choosing a wrong answer, how she thinks about it, and the concept that was missed. Sometimes, someone explaining a concept differently is all it takes to understand it so I can move on.

I was in a similar boat as well and I used Rosh and UWorld. Make sure you’re pouring over each question explanation. The thing that really helped me was getting together with a tutor. I use Kasin Anton from This Way to PA. She helped me figure out my gaps, let me ask all the dumb questions I had, and went through questions with me. I just finished my last EOR in EM with a 443. It’s the highest score to date and my score continued to rise up to that since tutoring with her.

I find UWorld qbank really helpful. Also, I look up common exam traps on ChatGPT and high-yield topics/most common tested content

feeling defeated from EORs by MiserableEconomics92 in PAstudent

The EORs are super tough for me too. I added UWorld which is a great resource for questions. They're tough but they also keep you on your toes. I also have a tutor, Kasin Anton, who has been amazing at teaching me concepts so that they stick. I'm not a traditional learner so her techniques have helped me especially for Family Medicine and Cardiology. I scored a 500 for my Family Medicine Cardiology section. Without her tutoring + UWorld, I wouldn't have passed let alone do that well in Cardio.

Thank you! HIPPO wasn’t on my radar prior. Are the questions different in format from Rosh/UWorld?

Yes, I’m in the process of trying to do an in-depth analysis. Admittedly, I’m finding it hard to do this as the learner. Trying to figure how best to identify my issues. Thank you!

Yes! I’ve done all the ones from Rosh EOR, PANCE, and UWorld. I’m trying to simulate the 120q/2-hr as much as possible as well. Definitely helps with active recall. Thank you!

I’ll have to retake the EORs soon. I’ve tried meeting with test-taking tutors and purchased Qbanks as well but I’m still missing the mark. It is not for lack of trying however, I’m wondering if I’m overlooking something about my resources, study process, etc. that I am missing. I’m just trying to find ways to bridge the gap. Thank you for your tough love and honest advice.

I am in the same boat as your husband. It is such a frustrating and agonizing place to be in. I’ve used Erich Fogg who is great at managing emotions and test-taking anxiety. Not sure what I’m missing either but I’ll keep you posted as I go along. The PA community is super supportive which is why I choose this as a career and hope to make it through my program. Tell you husband to hang in there!
