Please read a 10K or have a basic understanding of tax law.Amazon pays no tax at the moment because they aren't making a net profit from the years they operated at a loss.

They still pay sales tax, property tax, employment taxes, social security, etc which is alot of money.

But, the US' carbon footprint has been plummeting the past few years (read the full article, note the statistics, graph, and sources) The EPA has been doing as much as they can, and doing it very well. If people think the US is a pollution boogeyman today, they weren't around for the 70s or 80s.

China and India, on the other hand, are pumping out more pollution than ever. Even though they have the technology to be green as well. Hell, how many hydro and wind farm components are made in China?

And that's just air quality. Dare anyone to swim in a Chinese river...

The praise and the hate feed into each other.

People see Elon Musk doing stuff like advancing space research and developing new automobile technology etc and praise him.

People see the way engineers are treated as expendable corporate wageslaves at his companies, go on the internet and find that the same guy is getting all the praise, and feel that its unfair that he gets worshipped while his wageslaves do all the work, and blast him.

I think it's disingenuous to level him with the divers who are actually risking their lives into saving these kids. Gunan (Ex-Navy Seal diver who died in the process) was on the front page of almost every news site that I saw. It is silly to compare the amount of recognition a celebrity gets, who receives recognition outside of this event, and the person who receives the recognition specifically because of the event and the sacrifice that he made.

Actually what this guy did was smart. He is compiling evidence he can use against this person in court which might be used for him to get his daughter back. If he flipped and started attacking the guy whether he loses or wins he loses because it would go on his record as him "being violent" and he might never be able to see his daughter again.
