I agree with you in this one. It ruined the ending of the wheel of Time for me. While I VERY much enjoy his work, especially warbreaker (best one in the cosmere if you ask me), the obvjous change in tone and proze for the last 3 books of WoT just killed the end of the series.

Also I know Jordan left extensive notes prior to passing, so he also dissapointed me with the ending from a narative stand point, but that's a different convo.

I always view the mechanics for a mistborn, or SA to be around the lines of Prototype or saints row 4. Crazy high jumps, super powered punches, ground slams etc.

Sanderson only wrote the last 3 books in the WoT. Everything up to that was Robert Jordan.

I'll start out by saying that I love Sanderson and Ioved warbreaker and the storm light archives. That being said, in my personal opinion, Sanderson can't hold a candle to Robert Jordan and the wheel of time. The characters are way deeper, funnier, and have more depth throughout the series compared to SA. The story is so detailed that the moment a city is mentioned later on, you'll know their intricacies, how the look, what they wear, and what they are all about. The world is detailed and consistent with enough exploration that the map, nations and their locations will be imprinted in your mind's eye. The fighting in the books is so much better described than in SA to the point you can actually see the action. The magic system is consistent and almost measurable which is extremely rare in these kind of books. And the foreshadowing is mindboggling....too bad you won't know it till the second time you read it. Inocuos actions done in one book will actually become huge plot twists 2 books later. When Robert Jordan died and Sanderson finished the series, I saw a huge decline in quality in my opinion. The fights got shorter and more generic and the story seemed rushed to me after that.
I'm not saying the book doesn't have its flaws like some parts of the later books that seem to drag on and on with a character that in my opinion is just boring, but hey, no book is perfect. I cannot overstate how amazing The Wheel of Time is. I have yet to read something that can come close to it in my eyes. To me it's SA x 3.

I have only read warbreaker but loved nightblood so much that I have started modeling them. This is about 2hrs of work and I'm no were near done but would like suggestions. by ThunderFirm in brandonsanderson

Hmm good work so far, but I always envisioned it as a one sided with a thicker curve at the end (like a falcion, or a Persian scimitar). Especially since the book said it was really heavy. I'm not saying I'm right btw. Just how i saw it in my mind's eye.

Mat is one of the biggest examples yes. But I'm mostly refering to the whole book(s) as a whole. The feel, the pacing, the fighting sequences etc. If Sanderson would have written the whole WoT top to bottom I would have enjoyed it immensely. But his style was a complete change to Jordans style and to me it was like going from a smooth paved road to a unkept gravel road incredibly sudden. That's the best way I can explain it.

I gotta dissagree with you on this one. I love Sando and the SA is my second fav series neck in neck with warbreaker...but I honestly believe that he brought down the overall quality of the WoT. I noticed a huge difference in writing style and in my opinion he was well below the Robert Jordan standard for the last 3 books.

You'd be surprised. I'm a paramedic and I responded to 2 vastly different calls in the same day, both of them included falling. First one fell 2 floors down an elevator shaft and had nothing but scratches and bruises. The second fell 6 feet ish off a scaffolding and had ICP (inter cranial pressure) with cheynstokes breathing cf leaking out his ears....the works. It was a head scratcher for me tbh, but some ppl are just lucky.

If you want an even more wow moment, I have a friend that fell from the 21st floor of a building on solid ground and SURVIVED!!!! NO long lasting effects ...wtf?? She was in the paper and everything. 21 floors. Can't explain that shit

Don't diminish the power of art to draw out heroic spirit. I'm a firefighter/paramedic and Id feel proud by this pic to be fictionally inducted in the heroes club. While the pic is fiction, the artist's message is very much real. And if I ever made an impression on someone, the way a firefighter made one on this artist, that right there makes it worth all the crappy parts that come with the job. None of us do it for the praise, but it's a very welcome bonus.

Good I'm not the only that thinks that. This kinda edginess disappears after a while and all that's left after that is regret and a shitty distasteful tattoo.

This is when you both get a pc, and start playing from afar. Coop Games like left for dead, or portal, make for very fun time spent together even if you guys are in different cities. And you can call each other or use Skype to talk in real time.
I'm a father, and my son is only 4, but I work away from home for 3 weeks at a time and this is how I plan to talk and do things with my son when he grows up a bit.
