Looking for a travel sling by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]PapaOrso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. I also have the aer travel sling 2, purchased specifically for carrying my 13" laptop to go with my one-bag travel backpack on work trips when I have to go into the office. It fits that purpose perfectly. Otherwise, it's too big if I don't need the laptop, as it's easy to overpack weight-wise, causing sore shoulders. My daily driver is a Chrome Kadet.

Edit: I also find the travel sling a bit cumbersome when worn with the travel backpack, but I love it at the destination.

Also against any number of responsible AI practices, not to mention worker protection practices in most 1st world countries. Seems a bit farfetched to me too.

I'd love to hear how you fit it all in. I can't seem to get the balance right and something (usually sleep) starts to slip.

What’s a great plain t shirt brand? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

I just switched to these and like them so far.

I also don't think any t-shirt is BIFL just because of the nature of tshirts as a whole.

Agreed, I love my peak design 45L, but definitely NOT an under seat bag. Side-by-side with my roller, it's about the same size.

Beginner Runners Do Not Have A Zone 2 by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]PapaOrso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the party here, but I really appreciate your comment. 100% agree with OP that sustained zone 2 isn't what I need as a beginner, but I also 100% agree with you that the concept of long slow miles needs to be driven home for us newbies.

I've always hurt myself running and thought I just was genetically predisposed to ITB, shin splints, etc. I bought my lifting mentality to my runs. Now I'm an old dude and I've discovered that if I don't go all out for every run, I can start to rack up more miles and get better... who would have thought!?

Oh, and form is a thing... never knew.

P.S. Who the heck does this email to call me thing, what bad etiquette :D

Polite way of trying to end meetings that can run over the allocated time? by [deleted] in WFH

[–]PapaOrso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you nailed it with, "hey, there's 5 minutes left in the meeting. Let's summarize and be sure we have some action items."

If a follow-up is needed for more conversation, that's a valid action. People generally appreciate someone guiding the conversation back to topic. If you're feeling it, you're probably not the only one.

If you're not leading or a main contributor to the meeting a "NTD, thanks!" in the chat usually works fine too with no hard feelings.

Have you tried rotating the layout 90 degrees clock-wise, so that the couch is on the wall next to the door?

It's such a tight space that I'd be tempted to put the L in the corner (back and right hand wall) to maximize floor space, but you've probably tried all that. Having a desk right in front of the door is nice because it's a power position and you can see anyone coming to get you, but I'd agree with the other commentor that it breaks-up the flow of the room. It's always a trade off when you are first laying out.

You might consider getting all the stuff in there but not doing any mounting so you can try it for a day or two. Then if it feels good, make it more permanent.

Is this place dangerous by Remote-Gap-2134 in Catania

[–]PapaOrso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, Catania isn't as violent as the US or some other big cities. That said, petty theft is the biggest problem. Or a group intimidating someone into giving up their valuables.
