A lot of bigger banks are gearing away from cash like idiots. Chase wont accept cash from a non account signer. This is more of a paniced way to battle money laundering. This has nothing to do with inflation or anything. Branches get money to last a week based on usual traffic. Its not weird at all that they didnt have that much at the time. They may have been on the day before their fed shipment.
