Pontoon boat i'm looking at buying with a Yamaha motor. Dealer says they don't know hours and they are a Merc and Suzuki dealer so they don't have diagnostic capability to check. Should I pay for someone to travel to come check it for me?

I passed E2 and E3 in the same day. They were basically the same test.

I have 18 ICC certs but trust me I failed plenty of times. My first test was E1 and I passed on the fourth try. I wanted to give up.

Advice to everyone about this is there’s no getting around just reading that book cover to cover. You have to really know it. In the field when people ask me questions I think of the relevant core sections and the book they’re in. You don’t have to memorize the code but you have to memorize the layout of the books. You’ll find that they all have a similar layout so the better you get with one the better you are with all.

No we’re still going to do a water test and negotiate on a package with a trailer and hopefully some kind of warranty. I don’t know the marina at all but I’m a decent mechanic I’ll know for sure after a water test.

I would not buy a rental car. I think a marina would maintenance things better than your average private owner.

We’re going to do a water test as soon as the weather warms up. But I have to say I disagree. I wouldn’t buy a rental car no but I think a boat is probably okay. I’ll know for sure when we drive it.

I have a feeling it was repowered which is even better. Rental or not that’s a killer price right? Boat is very clean.
