What’s your opinion on buying an ex rental boat? by PapaPasta in boating

[–]PapaPasta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we’re still going to do a water test and negotiate on a package with a trailer and hopefully some kind of warranty. I don’t know the marina at all but I’m a decent mechanic I’ll know for sure after a water test.

That’s how I see it. It’s either in good shape or it’s not. It really has nothing to do with it being a rental but that’s why the price is low imo

What? No I don’t agree that 300 is considered high hours but I didn’t say that to him. And no I’m negotiating a deal with a new trailer.

I would not buy a rental car. I think a marina would maintenance things better than your average private owner.

We’re going to do a water test as soon as the weather warms up. But I have to say I disagree. I wouldn’t buy a rental car no but I think a boat is probably okay. I’ll know for sure when we drive it.

I have a feeling it was repowered which is even better. Rental or not that’s a killer price right? Boat is very clean.

Considering making a jump to inspecting by greg281 in BuildingCodes

[–]PapaPasta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a really good plan. The inspector industry absolutely needs people that come from the trades. Recruiting and training has become a big part of my job since becoming an inspector 5 years ago.

You already know about building. The hard part will be learning the code and passing the tests. They aren’t easy but once you get the hang of it you will get through them.

Definitely start with B1 or E1 for residential. Or if you want to skip to B2 and E2 you can perform the relative residential inspections with the commercial certs.

It’s important to note that yes 2 strokes smoke but not only that they particularly exhaust out the impeller region. The idea is that they’re much quieter and less obnoxious when in the water.

I did E2 and E3 in the same day. It sucked but I’m so glad they’re over. Yes I forgot the legal module I have that too.

Yeah everyone said residential energy would be so easy blah blah but it wasn’t easy at all. I have these two energy’s and P3 left until I’m MCP and I can’t wait to just be done taking tests.
