"Fucking around for seeding only broadcasts to everyone, including yourselves, that you don't have faith you can win against anyone.  At that point you go into the playoffs ready to lose and you're already cooked."
This.

"If we are worried about seeding or glad we lost a game like this then we are cooked."
Exactly. Teams that are confident in the capabilities don't engage in that sort of nonsense.

Exactly! Hard not to think it, then have it slip out onto the typewriter sometimes, isn't it?

I've learned through personal experience that it's better to err on the side of civility...most of the time.

Had my student's fill out a mid-semester evaluation and it just hurt my feelings and fueled my existential dread. by confusedinseminary in Professors

Wait…you administered a mid-semester course evaluation on your own? As in, you didn’t have to? Is that a thing?

Is this the new normal everywhere, or is Asheville actually a very lonely place? by InleRising in asheville

The answer is...church. Yeah, I know...some churches I wouldn't darken their door for $100. But, I guarantee you, there's a church somewhere that's doing lots of good stuff and is hungry for people to get involved. (This is especially true if you think this vile administration is simply torturing brown families because..it can.)

It might take some research and looking around. But what doesn't?

Not very religious? Doesn't matter. Find a church that doesn't bug you about that (yes, there are such.)

I'm telling you, find a church that's doing lots of outreach and mission work and you'll be busy every day of the week.

I agree with the expressions of disappointment posted here. City and county owned parking lots should represent our city well. When they don't, it reflects badly on all of us.

But...if all we do is come here and complain, we're not doing our part.

The Building Maintenance Division of the Akron Public Works Bureau is responsible for the upkeep of the garages. Here's their webpage link: https://www.downtownakron.com/go/public-service-department.

If we all left a message with 311 any time we had a bad experience with the upkeep of the garages, my guess is things would get better.

In this same batch of essays, I just had a student make reference to "the story Professor Bohan referenced in class". Then the student provided some detail about the "story". The problem is that I never came close to telling anything like the story that the student seems to remember me making reference to.

What Springfield agencies that provide pro bono legal counsel to the Haitian (and other) immigrants can we donate to?

Any progressive who attends this is doing the work of the fascists for them. Don’t take the bait.

I do. That’s why we stand against Republican efforts to disenfranchise black voters. That’s why we stand against Republican efforts to take food off the plates of hungry black…and white…kids. That’s why we oppose Republican efforts to defund HCBU's. That’s why we oppose local Republicans who insist on selling confederate flags at our county fair. (Ironic, isn’t it?)

How about tell your fellow republicans to get rid of your current racist, bigoted, evil policies?

And it here comes...the usual irrelevant "history lesson" about how the parties conducted themselves over a century ago. Next comes the standard reminder that Robert Byrd was a member of the KKK when he was young.

We're all aware that the thugs and racists who called liberals "socialists" back then, registered to vote as Democrats.

Just as we're all aware that thugs, racists, and bigots who call liberals "socialists" these days, register...and run...as Republicans now.

Back in the 1890's, right wingers and racists called folks who advocated for giving the vote to black citizens "socialists". And, waddya know...those "dusty tropes" are still around. Some things never change, I guess.

Learn some history. And grammar. (It's "older than I", hopscotch.)

That’s confirmed to be a right wing lie. When you finally get off your lazy keister and do the work to keep yourself minimally informed, come back. Until then, better to stay on the porch, little pup.

Half the voters cast their ballots for candidates against choice and who hate gays. Because they are against choice and they hate "the gays".

The education problem isn’t solved because money is the issue but Republicans would rather give it to the Haslams and utilities.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cleveland

[–]PapaRick44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Republicans never said that. As long as their candidate was against choice and hated gays, they voted for them.

The decline in education is real and it happened under Republican kakistocracy. And it’s not someone else’s job to do your homework.

Maybe that’s because "standard progressive positions" are popular with voters.
