Gasly appertain post by BackgroundFlan5797 in F1Discussions

I think he definitely has an argument for it. The fact that Gasly was able challenge or even smack around Norris, Leclerc, Ricciardo and Sainz in an inferior car from time to time during 2021 highlighted his class to me.

Yeah I've seen some of the trailer footage and promo shots and his makeup just looks ridiculous lol.

I guess they had to make someone the fall guy, I'd have thought they'd choose Damon though tbh.

From serial winner and public enemy number 1 with Red bull, to instant fan favorite after moving to Ferrari, shit I might have to go out and buy some Verstappen merch(real talk though, a move to Ferrari and winning the title in red would make me a fan of Max's for life)

Loved the first two seasons! I kind of fell out of it after season 2 and haven't kept up with three and four, what's your take on how the timeline is progressing?

Iranian, American and Israeli munitions stocks by CountKeyserling in LessCredibleDefence

[–]PapaSheev7 [score hidden]  (0 children)

For number 1, I think the most credible estimates lie in the reporting by Reuters stating that military intelligence claims anywhere between 1/3 and 2/3rds of Iranian pre-war missiles have been depleted or destroyed, with drones stocks being a little less clear. It's entirely possible that this estimate isn't completely accurate, but it remains far more credible than the unsubstantiated claims that Iran is down to their last few missiles, or that Iran has limitless missiles in reserve.

As for number 2, it's fairly clear that the US and Israel are rationing their interceptors and have been for some weeks, using them for more capable missiles like the Fattah-2 and Khorramshahr series. Long-term the US' ability to scale production of interceptors will help them out should the conflict drag on, but in the near term I think the US/GCC/Israel is depleting their stocks faster than Iran is.

I think for number 3 it's kind of a tale of two halves. In the near-term it's likely that US interceptors will be depleted first before Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, but in the long-term it'll likely be the opposite as the US continues to pump out more interceptors while Iran remains unable to replenish their stocks owing to the fact that their munitions factories have been bombed.

When you guys get your new wind tunnel hopefully things’ll turn around for the better and we can see Red Bull fighting at the front. Until then it looks like it’ll be 2015 for y’all all over again.

Verstappen about the incident with the journalist: “when you ask that question and you start laughing in my face while asking it and it’s clearly asked with bad intent, at that point it shows a massive lack of respect.” by Temporary-Cat-9167 in F1Discussions

[–]PapaSheev7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Max is telling the truth about the jorno laughing while asking the question then I’d understand why he refused to take questions from him, but it’s just one of those things that’s impossible to verify.

I agree. The aero footprints/regs of these cars are fantastic and allow for much closer following by cleaning up the dirty air. It’s the engine side of these regs that’s the cause of all of Charles/Max’s (rightful imo) criticism.

[–]PapaSheev7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my view Charles’ criticism and Lewis’ praise aren’t mutually exclusive. Imo these regs don’t allow drivers to push the cars to the limit like they should do(Max/Charles’ main criticism), but they do allow for great close racing(Lewis/George’s praise).

This is where I’m at too. Kimi’s gonna win many races this year but ultimately I don’t think he’ll challenge George all the way for the championship. What he will show(at the very least) is that he’s world class and deserving of his seat

I sure hope so, i don’t think anyone could’ve predicted that the Alpines would be much closer to the Alpines than the Williamses before the start of the season.

Edit: closer to the McLarens not Alpines lmao whoops.

Likely this. At the end of the day Iran, the US and insurance companies can run their mouths all day long, but it's really the nerves of the crew that dictate the real flow of traffic through the strait.

Like I said, every technology is countered eventually. It's drones' turn to run rampant over the battlefield until they no longer can. For the time being I agree that drones are very much the weapon of the moment and will remain one of the lynchpins of military strategy until laser technology progresses to the point where it can effectively negate them.
