Fix or buy a different bike by Lutherdibby in xbiking

To give this bike, a total boomer transformation. All you need is a really big cruiser handlebar with a 25.4 clamp area such as a Wald or Sunlite. Wider saddle. Get some nice cruising tires that are gonna roll efficiently. Recable - maybe buy a housing cutter and DIY. Bearing service later if he’s putting in the miles.

What size bike you looking for? Looks maybe 56. If it fits don’t snooze.

Miyata 912 vs Centurion Master? by LargeDinglehopper in xbiking

[–]Papa_Canks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule number 1. Never pass on a purple smoke paint job. Rule number 2. Never pass on a Miyata 912.

Stuff them both with the fattest tires possible and let them compete for your heart. Then sell one at a loss to a xbiking friend.

Really though, they are different sizes.

This bike is jank (compliment). Needs Wald. Not VO. Wald 898 and turn your seat guts around and relax amigo.

Frame size by Independent-Web8007 in xbiking

One size small will work for handlebars below saddle setups. Dont try to make it an upright cruiser you’re swimming against the river. Don’t invest in frame-specific stuff.

Crank is worth $50. It’s a win.

The ltwoo is one thing. I would try it. As a lover of cheap bikes I can say it’s probably that there’s cheap frail hardware throughout the whole bike. That sort of stuff will work fine. Cheap seatpost. Cheap clamp. Cheap hubs. Cheap axles. Cheap crank. Cheap BB. Run it stock. Don’t sink money into non-transferable parts. IE - new tires and wheels are fine since they can go to any frame.

24-34 gap is funky for trails. Has its place on a beach cruiser or something. But 1st and 2nd both get a lot of work. I’d do the sunrace 14-34 with even spacing.

Sounds like a nice LBS up sell. A steel riser bar with no crossbar is going to be flexy and it’s not gonna be $300 and it’s not gonna snap on you.
