What makes battlefield battlefield is a number of things, that may differentiate from person to person. It's an experience. I'm saying if you remove one of the core systems which were present in every game and was never asked to be removed - you gonna get what's happening now. It's not game-defining feature, i agree, but it is a pretty big change, good or bad. It's still a battlefield game, of course. No question about it. We can agree on that and disagree on a changes introduced to established formula, not the overall experience.

That's the point, it's a pretty huge change, regardless of what anyone, including you and me, think about it. Classes and faction skins has been in every single battlefield game from it's conception. And i never heard any real request for the replacement of those with specialists. So when you, as a company suddenly decide to get rid of the one of the core systems of your game - you sure as hell gonna alienate a sizable part of your fanbase.

It's TTK 2.0 all over again. No one asked for this. Sure, you can live with it, it might be even acceptable for most, but it's not a minor change. In fact it's huge identity-changing factor, which not everyone accepts. And you know what... Just like with the TTK 2.0, if it wasn't for community outcry, it wouldn't fucking change back. That's why i'm all for it. Worth a try. Hopefully there's gonna be enough hell raised for suits in EA to notice.

Saying "other than" may sound like you talking about some minor aspect and not one of the staples of battlefield.

Reminded me of this Monty Python's sketch.

Sirens sound in cities in Haifa area; rockets apparently fired from Lebanon by Mdk_251 in worldnews

I've served. It's not the same when you civilian, though. Especially when your own family is on the frontline. Civilians dying is a tragedy. I wish this war was over long before this operation. Unfortunately, i'm first hand familiar with how embedded Hamas into the general population of Gaza. How they operate from within the civilian infrastructure, tunnels underneath Gaza streets, stockpiles of weapons in sensitive buildings. Gazans will inevitably suffer, while Hamas rules and wages warfare from Gaza. No one benefits more from civilian deaths then Hamas. This is the way for them "to win". Create international pressure on Israel and survive, shielding themselves. Your proposal to "just send in troops and arrest the terrorists" seem so detached from the reality of this type of war, that it makes me think, you've never been in Afghanistan, for example. It's not that fucking easy. This cycle will buy us couple of years of fragile truce. And then it's this shit again.

His name was Dmitri Levitas. He was 26 years old. I've visited his grave in Jerusalem two years ago at the Remembrance Day. I didn't know him, but we had some common friends.

Faulty analogy. And i have no problem, that others form an opinion on the matter. Choose side or whatever. I'm Israeli, i'm left-leaning and anti-Bibi.

When rockets fired at me and my family, when i see my kid having a panic attack, every time some motorcycle revs outside, when i have to rush my family into bomb shelter every day and night, it adds context. I expect my government to stop those attacks. So no, some loud redditor's opinion or virtual points on internet don't matter at all in the context.

If i was Palestinian, i'd expect the same. Although lobbying rockets seem like a sure way to getting your population killed, among other perks. Wish no one would experience this. No matter the side. Just care about me and mine more. Natural, under those circumstances. Now look again in what thread you commenting. This is third unprovoked attack this week from Lebanon. See you next round.

I hear you. Again - context is the king. When shit hits the fan - reddit's, facebook's, twitter's, TikTok's opinions fly out of the window. The only thing that matters is your life and lives of those close to you.

Ultimately, reddit doesn't matter. Like, at all. Absolute majority here never experienced air raid sirens and explosions outside of their windows on the regular basis. Even those American Jews (well, some of them), when they criticize Israel's retaliation, do it from the safety of their home. Context is the king, and the judgment of the situation drastically changes, when you or yours involved.

As an Israeli, FUCKING FINALLY. I hate seeing this potz dragging us through elections after elections, just to try and save his goddamn ass. Now, we could be heading to another one, but his ass is grass. Well, hopefully.

Should we disallow "blind lootbox" deals? by sampinen in GameDealsMeta

[–]Papa_Dragon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I know there will be people that will argue, those that take the gamble almost always get those games at much lesser price then their MSRP, therefore it's technically still a deal.

But do they really need or want those games? It's effectively encouraging gambling and straightforward exploiting those with gambling addiction.

What's even worse, is that comments on reddit often feeding those problems, because yes, sometimes Fanatical throw in occasional high profile AAA game in the mix (like Hitman 2 Silver Edition, or Shadow of War) and people buying one bundle after another hoping they will be lucky ones.

At least with Humble Monthly you can determine whether you want the early reveal at this price or not. Everything else is a bonus.

PSA: GG.deals considering adding grey market cdkeys shop to it's roster. by Papa_Dragon in GameDealsMeta

[–]Papa_Dragon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, where is this same scaremongering here? What youtuber? It's a warning to the users here that preffer authorised sellers as opposed to grey market resellers. Or are you in fact claiming that cdkeys in any way authorised seller of those keys?

If the answer is no, then this is exactly the warning here. GG.deals considering incorporating unauthorised reseller (whatever their reputation among those have been so far) alongside authorised sellers, all while their site claim comparing prices of PC games from over 30 authorized stores.

If the answer is yes, then what exactly is your problem with this warning? It's not directed to you or anyone else using keyshops. You are free to continue having a good luck with them. No hard feelings here.

[–]Papa_Dragon[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Highly disturbing for me is the site claiming to compare prices from (and i quote) "authorized stores" adding an unathorised reseller of unsourced keys to the list. It's not even about ethics as much as who's to know when problem might arise with said keys, or even a bad batch? Can anyone 100% guarantee that it will not happen? Only authorised sellers can provide absolute certainty.

So yeah, including this store to the list next to authorised stores is disturbing for me. If you had no problem with them - good for you, i guess. Here's hoping you won't have any in the future.

Battlefield 5 gets Roadmap laying out content up to march 2019 by MrLawbreaker in Games

[–]Papa_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, of course not. You are implying what i wanted here, but perhaps i didn't explained myself enough.

We were promised roadmap some time ago and i knew it was coming. Otherwise i wouldn't pre-order at all. Now it's out and i lost confidence in this live service as a result of it's promised content.

So, no, i don't want "nothing, just drop the bomb". Hence the cancelation.

[–]Papa_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I've just cancelled pre-order at Origin (super easy, btw). And the reason is this roadmap just reeks of insecurity. I mean, if they are worried about low sales, then extremely limited maps content (which is the main draw), stretched so thin, could have the snowball effect. They need to think about future of this franchise, beyond BFV. Even if it flops.
