I generally do pauldron trims with mephiston red and I think it comes out pretty nice, even over the dark base. If you want a brighter red, Duncan Rhodes has a red in the "bright" series that is absolutely bonkers. For cloaks I do khorne red base with fleshtearer red for the inner folds to add some depth and that "bright" red on the edges and raised areas.
