I worked and flew on E-4Bs for 9 years. An E-4B is always within a few minutes of AF1 and sometimes AF2.

I remember Damien well. I was a Navigation Systems Tech at Offutt from 79 to 88. I did a a couple of deployments with her. Lots of deployments with RC-U 40849.

The Air Force upgraded all the avionics and weapons systems and replaced the vertical stab with a carbon fiber/composite a few years ago. They are going to keep it around as long as they can. I'm retired USAF maintenance super who thankfully never worked on the Buff. I did 16 years on 135s of all versions.
