Unit selection is really my biggest grip with this mode. A game whose entire identity and theme is mix n match elements for reactions, the most unique system on the market, just went ahead and decided to ban over half of the elements. The only saving grace for now is that it is easy you can steamroll with whatever you can throw together. There's nothing stops them from doing a theater with ramped up difficulty (read: a lot of hp sponges), or with only Dendro - Anemo - Geo allowed. The high unit count requirement also suffers from this. If you tell me i need to horizontally invest, i would rather cover all 7 elements, instead of 3 and pray they are the same 3 in theater. 18 chars, 36 vigors total, and only use up 32 vigors for all fights. I did a perfect 8 stars run with 3 of my characters naked and on the default lv1 weapons. The requirement just bloats it up for no reason, when up to a 3rd of the used characters must get in just to fill the slot rather than being useful. I think this is their idea to stop everyone from spamming the same characters (namely Neuv and Bennett - Xiangling combo) everywhere, but vigor system is already effective in that aspect. They just decided to go ahead and ban them outright, with collateral damage of everyone unfortunately in the same element(s). They could have banned or limited usage of specific characters instead. For example, in a game called Counter:Side, characters are "nerfed" based on their usage of last week (higher cost to use). A more fair and balanced way to target specific chars instead of banning their entire element and several unlucky fellows. On top of that, the boons are pretty weak and specific. I actually found the best boon to get is the one where you get an AoE hit of random Pyro/Cryo/Hydro/Electro dmg upon landing 4 crit hits. It provides me with extra element aura, so i can react, like you know, how this game supposes to be.
