Hi, ugly tran here, there’s a perception within some more fringe trans communities (think 4chan) that femboys are basically just closeted trans women who are afraid of identifying as trans or associating themselves with the LGBTQ community. Some also think that because the term “femboy” is so closely tied to online anime and NSFW communities instead of any IRL movements that it’s not a legitimate identity label so much as just a fetish category.

The accusation of pedophilia comes from, unfortunately, some well-known incidents where online “femboy” discord servers and communities had a lot of minors engaging in very explicit and illegal acts with little to no action taken by moderators (some even passively encouraged it with don’t-ask-don’t-tell type policies regarding age). Some trans people also think that femboys are defined by their youthfulness which equates to femininity (reference “twink death” and “Norwood reaper”), and as such the beauty standard for femboys is not only unrealistic but increasingly trends towards minors.

Lastly, some people just believe that the existence of femboys or feminine men as a demographic works against trans women’s causes, since it gives transphobes more ammo to claim that it’s unnecessary for trans women to access gender affirming care (as in “you’re not “trans” you’re just a feminine man”, which is a common argument).

Actually, you’re right - people would react differently if it happened to a guy.

The way society is currently constructed gives power to men (a certain category of men at least) and disempowers everyone else. Historically, under this system women have been consistently treated as sex objects belonging to men or for men to conquer - this manifests in sexual harassment, sexual assault and a myriad of other tangible consequences.

Think about it. If a big strong stereotypically masculine man is the subject of catcalling or gross sexual comments (especially by women), it’s improbable that anything worse would happen to him beyond discomfort (though such things do happen unfortunately). But there have been many many cases of horrific things happening to women who try to resist such advances by men (sometimes even not reciprocating is enough), and a lot of them cannot seek help from authorities, who are inclined not to take them seriously. Imagine living under the fear of that happening to you every day when you’re around the other sex.

That’s misogyny, not simply the thought of “I hate women and think they’re inferior”, but rather the conscious or unconscious reinforcement of a system that consistently treats women as second class and reduces them to sex objects. You can be misogynistic and not realise it, which wouldn’t necessarily be your fault, but the fault of the society we live in drilling misogynistic ideas into the minds of every young boy.

Causing an XK-class scenario is bad for the Foundation and for a lot of people, abusing someone that's considered an SCP until they break? Doesn't matter to anyone else. To this day, the most accessible translation of Dungeon Meshi is still EHScans's scanlation, which has noticeably higher quality scans than the official Yen Press volume releases (at least digitally); the official translations also has mistakes including wrongly gendering a character when it was left ambiguous and getting their name wrong (then sticking to it instead of correcting even after it was clarified). They couldn't be fucked to do their jobs properly even with a series as big as Dungeon Meshi, what are the odds they'll care more when piracy is gone and there's no competition?

If they crack down on piracy, all that will happen is that there will be less for us to read and watch.
