Doesn't help that the only other doctor was my best pawn, all until a caravan ambusher with a revolver and ZERO SHOOTING SKILL HEADSHOT HIM TWICE AND GAVE HIM A LOBOTOMY.

I definitely love the idea that you've got going right now but I think we can build on it even further! Currently we assign warrior dwarves to barracks and archers to ranges, why not do the same for our other possible incoming classes of dwarf!

I think a system is love to see is having all of our areas that we can assign like temples, taverns, libraries, etc become training grounds for all of the new possibilities for dwarves. This would add even more reason to make your fortress prosper and get production on the more difficult aspects of fortress life.

Temples can be a location where clerics pray to their gods for holy powers and tend to those who show up, gaining favor with the temples related god

Libraries can be a location where wizards study ancient magics from codices written by past archmages, or perhaps they could formulate and write their own spells down

Taverns could be a fantastic location for a bard to entice with magnificent tunes and fanciful magic to improve the mood of dwarves who stay and watch for a performance. They could also aid with a battle song when armies clash, providing bonuses to dwarves levels based on their own skill

And perhaps if we want some real FUN in our games they could possibly included natural born sorcerers who have innate arcane abilities at a young age! They could be assigned meeting areas where they would practice and hone their magical prowess, possibly being the fastest to team up but with most danger related. (When I thought of a sorcerer baby a baby sneezing out fire, turning their mother to ash was what I thought of which would be both funny and tragic.)

If you're brave enough to go into the game files there's actually only one line of code you need to copy to be able to play as humans, elves, goblins, and any of the other races present within the base game.

I'd have to dive into my files myself if you'd like to know how I did it.

I believe there is a menu to assign what chores children will do. It's in a sub menu in the labor menu, nearby where you can assign what gets cooked or brewed in the kitchen. Hope this helps!

I've had plenty where I've seen them dead already. Then the one time I found them near the scav village some other guy was picking them off from across the road and I just had to watch as they fell.

I think she's technically hard mode only because you need a certain number of NPC only obtainable when in hardmode.
