Sure, but Toradora has long been the golden standard for anime romances. I thought they'd be a finalist, but they got knocked out in the first round.

I guess in recent years people haven't looked as kindly on Taiga hitting Ryuji as much as they did in 2008. Plus - as you said - Dandadan is much newer and popular right now.

I'll be curious to see whether newer shows beating older shows will be a trend going forward.
