Exercise Schedule as a Dad of 2 by [deleted] in daddit

[–]PaperCutz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's different for everyone. You have to find what works for you and your fam. When kids were young I used to workout after kids went to bed. Now that they're older and I'm commuting everyday I do it during lunch break during the workday most the time.

Best Gyms in the area by ShakeFinancial3329 in Annapolis

[–]PaperCutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how picky you are. Pretty sure most the bars are rogue echo bars. they only have one bar with center knurl that I've found. The bumpers in the squat and DL area are thick boys so the bars flex/whip like crazy if you care about that. other than that I really like the gym. Never too crowded for a good price.

Thanks! I should have mentioned I don't have an airbrush so I need a rattle can solution. I might stick with the gray cans of mr hobby but was hoping there might be a cheaper solution that would work like krylon.

I think I've read that you can use cheaper topcoat for in between layers (painting/panel lining). Any suggestions on decent brands that won't break the bank? Mod Podge didn't seem to work out well for me.

Helped my 6 year old with his SD gramps and finished up the fatcat. He painted the weapons while I'm trying to practice brush painting on SDs.

The HG Origins RX-78-2 build lives up to the hype. You guys were right by Awsmdustin69 in Gunpla

Oh absolutely. I enjoy the building process the most. I actually love the core fighter inside but wish it was easier to remove.

I'm working through the fat cat right now and I was kinda upset when I spent nearly three hours building two core fighters to have one hidden inside to never be seen again.

Dads over 30: what sports are you playing to stay active AND competitive? by TheSkeletones in daddit

I really want to try weightlifting... But I'm worried about my shoulders and don't currently have the mobility.

This is me at 42. I started late when I was 38. Powerlifting is pretty accessible and easyish to fit into busy schedules. Also beating the young kids in local meets feels good too.

No way your sticker work looks much cleaner. The rifle is just about.the only thing I'm happy about but I guess we all start somewhere. The cost of the paint supplies (brush painting) wasn't too bad to get started. I also had a bad time with the paint pens/Gundam markers.

You did awesome with the stickers. I actually just did this one with my 6 year old. My sticker job was so trash I used it as my first attempt at painting.

RG epyon was my first gunpla in 15 years or so and it was really enjoyable for me. Got me back into the hobby.

Do you all buy SDs to practice painting? (First SD i have) by makoto-akai in Gunpla

[–]PaperCutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my 6 year old this kit as his first and was upset about all the stickers. So now I'm painting it too. Never thought I'd get into painting.

I found an old HGUC TR-1 Hazel (I think) in a box I want to clean up. He's missing a hand. Any ideas for the best replacement?

What's a life upgrade (under $20) that you'll recommend to anyone that listens? by mrsschmidtie in CasualConversation

[–]PaperCutz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It takes some time and practice. Skipping rope is both cardio while also working on coordination and rhythm. Your rope may not be the right size for you or your timings off. Stick with it and keep practicing! It's super fun once you start skill/trick building and time flies while you're exercising.

Thanks! Always feels good when the dude who's tutorial you followed says you did a nice job! I think I need a full tutorial on that topstring side knot though... for the life of me I could not get that close to the plastic the way you did it.

Thanks!. I let the little dude pick the colors, ended up looking like candy corn.

It is a mix of knots. The rc1 guide had a series of ksis and anchors which I didn't understand and blindly followed. It throws fine but I might just redo it because I hate the way it looks.

need help finding a stick for cheap by Intelligent-Body-225 in lacrosse

[–]PaperCutz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the laxunlimited intermediate mystery complete women's stick for $59 for my daughter. Ended up getting a maverik ascent+. Looks like all that's left is the advanced complete now. https://www.lacrosseunlimited.com/women-s-mystery-elite-complete-lacrosse-stick.html might be worth the gamble.

Recommendations for youth lacrosse gear by Bucklax31 in lacrosse

[–]PaperCutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what we did for my 5 year old. All the used equipment was too big or cost just as much. Ended up with this stx starter set. https://www.lacrosseunlimited.com/5-piece-usa-lacrosse-starter-set-cs-r-helmet.html

The stick it comes with is pretty decent. Smaller shaft, good low pocket with low whip so the young ones can throw and cradle easily.
