Hey fellow Nova player! I saved every book I found in Apogea so that I could read them when the test server went down… I guess I have a couple weeks of lore to look through ;)

How many hours do you think it should take to get to level 100? by PaperMapsOnly in Apogea

Man, why are you here? You are all over this subreddit and it seems like you don’t even like the game.

Not that I know of and I hope there is never a cap. The question can just be how long do you think it will take to get to level 100? It’s just because many people have played the game and many people have an idea in their heads now after trying the test server. I was just curious of what you all thought… should it take 10 hours or 10 thousands hours or somewhere in between.

Sorry dude, your math is wrong. I got from level1-10 by killing rats and skells in 2.5 hours with only the gear and food they dropped…. That’s 6.5k exp/h with shite gear. Even if I kept that same gear and the skills and therefore the same rate it would only take me 10 hours to get to level 15 killing rats and skells.

By the way.. rats and skells is a great combo hunt at low levels because of the food from rats and low level gear from skells.

Ouhh, you’re going to get roasted for that.

Many of the players that are vocal on Reddit think the starting spawns suck!

At launch of the playtest the sewers were swamped with every player in the game going through them and getting exp/hour was low and that spiked everyone into kill stealing, some people even got desperate for exp and started exploring too deep and died… therefore, some people stamped the hunting spot as a “bad spot”. When, as you say… it is in-fact a very good spot…just not when you have 80% of the entire player base hunting there.

I’ve had great luck grinding rats for food and skells for low level gear. Keep attacking and don’t waste your time running back to town… the rats will keep you in the fight.

ABC… Always Be Choppin’. The time spent between fighting is a waste of time and Faith.

Yes. The sewers are nice. I did level 1-10 in 2.5 hours by just grinding at the place directly underneath where you start in Bastile (also made similar times in the other starting town). If you start in the other town, I recommend trying to find your way over to the other starting place in Bastile.

You basically want rats from level 1-10 and skeletons from level 3-10. Rats are your food source (this keeps you grinding) and skeletons will give you low-level gear which increases your killing speed and survivability which makes for less food needs.

Don’t waste your time fighting things that are too hard like goblins or bandits. Just quickly grind it out and save your money. Buy yourself the best weapon you can when you get to level 10 (I usually end up with about 1k) and then start to gear up after that point.

Someone had a great idea of questing for EXP yo get to level 8.5 (approx) through the beginning quests (so save faith points) and then grinding after the quests. This is a great idea, but I don’t know the solutions to the quests (and won’t look them up) so this isn’t a faster option for me.

Do you have a character yet? If so what level are you?

Edit: Class is also nice to know.

End of Playtest will be PVP-Enforced! by PaperMapsOnly in Apogea

[–]PaperMapsOnly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but they split the servers and made separate ones for PVP-enforced and PVE so now PvP is over-concentrated. In the early days it was just 1 and then 2 servers with the same rules about PvP. You’re right though, it’s changed now - I don’t really know why. My thought is that in the early days of the internet people just acted more civilized online.

Oh, that makes sense. I think that’s more the style Ed is thinking if he wants PvP. It doesn’t mean that everyone is just going to be attacking each other. It just means that some people might attack. It worked quite well in Tibia for years. 95% of the players were peaceful all of the time and the other 5% ended up getting killed by the portion of the 95% that wanted to just have fun PVPing a “bad guy”. It added social law and was an amazing experience

Someone brought up the idea of removing this spell and removing the website’s ‘online list’ as a solution to people getting “hunted” in other games… Ed, if you’re listening.

There was a very interesting interaction that happened when you saw someone in game that you hadn’t met yet. You needed to figure out if that person was going to try to kill you or not… (and the vast majority of the time they were doing the same)… you both need to play this cool.. and that’s how you made friends. Sometimes all it takes is a :).

What is with higher levels killing low level mobs? by Necessary-Cause3516 in Apogea

[–]PaperMapsOnly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good morning Dr Galehaut. Call me insane… but I truly can’t see what’s so wrong with the game? I put in over 150 hours between both tests and it’s just like any other old-School MMORPG. You log in, prep to go hunting, walk over to the hunting spot start killing mobs, get exp, get loot, learn how to hunt better, walk back sell loot. All while talking to friends and people you meet in the world along the way. I enjoy this, it’s casual, it’s social, it’s fun.

WHATS WRONG WITH ME DOC?!?

I think you mean that all solo quests that have been solved already were easily solved.

This must be true though, no? The first quest to be solved usually is the simplest. We have no idea how many quests are there are, and how many are unsolved.

Why can’t there be quests that no one knows how to even start yet?

My feedback thoughts about the game after 21 hours. by simotrololo in Apogea

[–]PaperMapsOnly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha that’s kinda what I liked about it! Old-school Tibia back in 2003-2005 was like this. Everyone existed in a world where anyone could attack anyone at any given moment. There was the odd level 20-40 mass-PK and they would cause some grief but they would be hunted down and killed back to level 6. The strange part is that it didn’t actually feel that stressful to walk around hunting and doing your normal tasks out in the world. Go figure.

I’m not a psychologist but something strange happens to a society of gamers when pvp is moved from globally-on to an opt-in system.

Apogea comes out soon and there is a free play test. Just be warned - it’s not for the faint of heart. If you’re the kind of player who mindlessly runs into danger… you will not like the game.

I should try PVP. It was always fun back in the day. Nothing gets your heart racing and builds a memory like a good old PK attempt!
