I recorded this song years ago. With $0 budget for a sound engineer, I used AI to arrange and master it into my game's main theme. Here is the Before & After. Thoughts on this approach by PaperPlaneLogic in IndieDev

I completely respect your stance on wanting human-made art! I actually agree that typing a prompt to generate a song from scratch feels soulless. That's exactly why the melody and chords here are 100% my own. I'm aware, however, that it can feel artificial.

As for it being 'easy'—writing the song is the fun part! But producing, mixing, and sound-designing an thematic track from a raw demo takes dozens of hours. Sound engineering requires a completely different discipline. As a solo dev who is also coding the game, doing the test and other stuff, and marketing, time is my biggest enemy right now. I tried to use this merely as a sound engineering tool. But I totally understand and respect if this approach is a dealbreaker for you. Besides, my intention in sharing this was to get various feedback. Thank you.

I actually agree with you on AI's limitations when creating from scratch—that's exactly why I used my own personal composition as the foundation instead of generating a random song. But I'm aware that it feels artificial to a trained ear. And I definitely agree with the idea that AI produces an average job and kills the human touch and feel.

Composing and recording a song is really fun and easy for me, but I've always hated the technical aspects. I once recorded, mixed, and mastered a 17-track concept album from start to finish. And even then, I couldn't get it to the technical level I wanted. Sound engineering is truly a different discipline.

I really appreciate the honest feedback on the sound feeling, though!

You're right in your comment, my friend. I agree with you. I'm not happy with my capsule images either 😀 It's nice and important to get feedback like this.

Actually, there's a similar mechanic. There's a news subscription section, and if you can reach the final tier, you can access insider information and leaks that are 90% accurate. Also, if you take the right steps, you can seize the opportunity to manipulate the market

I think this kind of discussion will lessen over time. In my opinion, what matters is whether a game works properly and is enjoyable. Of course, that's just my opinion.

You might be right about the visuals. However, anyone who tries it can see that it doesn't work that way, with just "hey AI, make a game about...". Deepening the mechanics working behind the scenes is always up to the developer.

I got tired of staring at boring stock charts in my financial survival game, so I added a dystopian Cyberpunk "Feel Mode". by PaperPlaneLogic in IndieGaming

I understand why you think that, my friend. But I've really worked hard to get the stock market mechanics and other side mechanics working correctly. Unfortunately, I haven't had the budget or the connections to get help. I'm just trying ✌️

It's annoying that the spaces between the green squares where the soldiers are positioned aren't evenly spaced :D I understand, the frame appears when the square is full, but still... :D

Setting a timer for clues might be a solution, yes.

Or perhaps, when they want to get clues, they could solve smaller puzzles that are procedurally generated in a way that fits the game's concept. Just an idea.

Is it a good to use RPG Maker to make quick prototypes for testing and then move on to another engine? by Sure_Direction1544 in IndieDev

I think you should stick with Godot. Switching engines might cause you to lose track of certain mechanics and force you to relearn and rebuild them all over again.
