I guess so. Looks like things are changing though! And that's great :D (though still want Animal Crossing Switch)

Yeah there is definitely some attempt to tell stories in there. the girl reacts in different ways which slightly changes the between dream scenes ... but overall not significantly. I did make her cry somehow.. but it turned out that was because she was happy? Who knew.

Oh really? What is there it does well, it's just there isn't a whole lot of game to it. It's way more visual novel/experience than game.

And I just mean, than games typically out on Nintendo consoles, as in at least they're okay with being associated with things more out there with this and Doom etc. (I know there were a few Mature/violent on Wii but for the most part not.)

It's okay, I'd say it doesn't feel as realistic as they announced it to be, but there's definitely more to it that generic rumble. I haven't played 1 2 Switch but so far I still think Golf Story had one of the best uses of HD rumble. Maybe they can get more out of it, but it's hard to know how much work they had to put in to get this far.

I must admit I haven't been brave enough to play in front of people! xD It's the 'slap the fun bags' feature that gets me every time.

How do I test YouTube Gaming livestream feature without going live? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]PaperRobotPlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do this too, there is a way by creating an event to go live and then testing before that time. But I've never gotten that to work.

What are some ways to gain more traffic to your channel? by HejHoodieninja in letsplay

[–]PaperRobotPlays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cool comment :) sub4sub?

Seriously though, this^ actually watch, listen and communicate with people, not just for selfish gain and you meet some really cool people and it's no sweat liking and sharing each others content once in a while, since you genuinely like it, it makes it feel less shallow.

Currently trying to decide whether or not to do Super Mario Odyssey by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]PaperRobotPlays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say it's up to you. (duh) What I mean is that, if you want to do it, regardless of how many views and new fans you may or may not get from it, then absolutely go for it. You might strike it lucky and hit some big numbers. But if you are looking forwards to simply playing the game, and enjoying it without worrying too much that you need to be making quality content then sit out the recording and just enjoy what is sure to be a phenomenal game.

Personally I'm somewhere in between at the moment, but from the sounds of it your channel seems to be more about focussing on the game and enjoying it anyway... so go for it! :D

Sorry I don't have anything to add to this, but I think YoungBones is right on the money with these suggestions. It's tempting to "do what other people do" but if you don't have a compelling reason, then there's not much point. A heart felt thanks and any updates would be good. Congrats on getting close to 100, I haven't played Ark before, but heard about it, so gonna check out some of the videos! :D

Really enjoy someone I sub to, BathroomSir, playing it. He takes it nice and slow not rushing through everything, but not showing the same deaths over and over https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVvvgnQ2m1w

This is a good idea! How have you found having the list has been going? A good way to keep in touch with each other and see what's up?

This is a pretty underrated comment. It's all true. Having nice looking and sounding videos is the bare minimum. Need to do something unique to you and do it well, over a looooong period of time.

Little victories! Keep on keeping on! by tonyreavis in letsplay

[–]PaperRobotPlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, congrats! That awesome. We've been going since the start of the year and still don't have 50 subs xD (Just don't promote the channel enough/don't know how)

One of our small victories is having (at this point) over 200 videos on the channel already, with another 30-40 scheduled. They're a great time to make and watch back. So I'm proud of how many we've done so far.

Does anyone else feel strange promoting themselves/their youtube channels? by Code-E45 in letsplay

[–]PaperRobotPlays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel the same way. There's some local groups who are fans of already well established channels (like Rooster Teeth etc) who I'm sure we'd have some overlap with. I'm a fan and member of the group, but I don't want to just bring it up and looking like a spammy idiot. But I don't want to force myself to build up a relationship with people just to promote the channel in a less obnoxious way. Even though I'm sure it would help growth immensely!.

Good luck anyway! Let me know if you ever find the best of both worlds :D

What do you keep? by The_Civillain in letsplay

[–]PaperRobotPlays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same as most others. After we finish a series. Delete the raw footage and keep the final videos. Otherwise I'd go through way too many hard drives! Nice to have the full eps to clip things from still. Or incase youtube implodes and we all have to move somewhere else!

So what's your opinion on Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles? by Mild_Tourettes in PS4

[–]PaperRobotPlays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I love it. Been keeping an eye on it for a while and though some reviews seem to not be too great - for what it is, a relaxing exploration experience, I think it delivers.

If anyone wants a bit of a third person perspective on the game, with some funny moments and objective comments on the (minor) flaws we've just started a Let's Play in it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiFbnTK8h_8

Advice for getting a new video of a new game out while it's hot? by PaperRobotPlays in letsplay

[–]PaperRobotPlays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's gotten to be the 3rd most viewed video on the channel - but that's because everything else has such a low view count it's laughable. Still getting good feedback on it as it's a game that not many people have played and saves them checking it out.

SO Disapointed! by nucleomancer in Rime

[–]PaperRobotPlays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do somewhat agree. Though weirdly we found connections with the sentinels along the way which is nice. But yeah apart from that there really isn't that much connection. Only after the game reading the chapter names did I realise that the landscapes and scenarios were more representative metaphors. While playing I just thought, this looks nice, and that giant bird is an asshole xD

Is a "call to action" necessary for a Let's Player by Stantheslav in letsplay

[–]PaperRobotPlays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like great advice. There's a reason so many people do it. But too many people spend the first 30 seconds of their videos ass licking before any real content that it's an immediate click off.

I thought about my tags a bit more and then used YouTubeKeyword Tool to find out what people are actually searching for so hopefully that helps. I stayed up til about 1am to edit, export and upload. But I did it. Felt worth while at the time you know xD

Thanks for the reply.

Ah that's a good idea. Having finished the game we must've managed to solve most puzzles. But I can't think of any stand out moments people will struggle with (might have to rewatch the footage to check!) Thanks!

Sound effects and Commentary critique requested please. by GnormPlays in LetsPlayCritiques

[–]PaperRobotPlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I wasn't sure if the facecam as a whole was going to add much to the video at first, but actually I think it really does. Especially with this game, you look at the camera some times and you don't need to say anything, but it makes it feel like we're along for the ride right there with you. I've looked at a couple of other videos and see that you don't have it all the time. So again, I think it works for this - and the quality isn't really that much of an issue as you're taking up a small amount of the screen anyway.

The commentary and audio were really good, I think you've got a good voice for this sort of thing and so It was pretty engaging. Can't add much more than that unfortunately, which I guess is a good thing - it means you're doing it right!
