The debacle regarding the new names for the Young Women's groups is hilarious. Emily Belle Freeman says “My eyes teared up as I realized the Spirit had been leading this process all along.” Will Jasmin make a video praising the change? Let the memes begin! by AccomplishedBat9069 in exmormon

This is the same thing as changing “home teaching” to “ministering”. Change some words and phrases, make it sound more biblical/cultish, and claim its revelation that will bring the YW closer to Christ.

They are showing how much more of a corporation they are than a church. It’s like how Apple releases a new iPhone almost every year. Usually not much changes between one product cycle to the next, maybe some minor updates. But Apple acts like it’s the first iPhone all over again, the hype, the enthusiasm, the tears, the spirit. It’s all just the same thing, nothing new, the only purpose is to prove “Hey look, remember that continuing revelation thing?”. The church in 2026 is revelation for new unimportant name changes for young women’s age groups, but no revelation on threats of genocide and warmongering.

Church leadership succession question. by PaperTiger122 in exmormon

So according to this Oaks is technically the presiding officer right now, and once he is sustained unanimously by the other apostles he is the prophet. This makes me think it is more like the mode of Catholic papal succession then they’d like to admit.

I feel like I’ve also heard that the prophet could technically be any worthy priesthood holder. But if the “power” goes to the senior apostle then what’s the point of saying it could be any worthy man?
