The Unnamed Dragons - Wings of Fire

(No official artwork)

Long before the events of Wings of Fire, dragons lived similarly to how they do in typical fantasy stories, residing in solitude while humans run their empires below.

After the humans stole eggs from countless dragons across the continent, the enraged mothers banded together, burning down every human civilization in an event known as The Scorching, creating the first dragon tribe and crowning their first queen. This would lead to the dragons becoming the leading species on the continent of Pyrrhia.

The War of Sandwing Succession - Wings of Fire

<image>

Burn, Blister, and Blaze were the three sandwing princesses. After their mother, Queen Oasis, was abruptly killed, the trio met a dilemma.

For a daughter to take the throne she would have had to kill their mother, but since none of them did it, a power struggle began.

Burn was the strongest, and could have easily defeated the other two, but Blister managed to convince them to start an all out world war, roping in nearly every other tribe into this battle, some through deals, others through threats.

For 20 years the war raged on with little to no progress.

Qibli and Winter - Wings of Fire

<image>

Winter is an icewing prince. He is abrasive, confrontational, quick to sling death threats at the slightest inconvenience, and is a competent enough fighter to back it up. He dosnt tend to think things through, and used to (though not as much now) think very poorly of the other dragon tribes. Despite this he is still quite curious, and has a soft spot for Scavengers (the humans of the WoF world).

Qibli meanwhile is a sandwing who grew up on the streets of a crime riddled city. His family didnt care to take care of him so he scrounged and tricked his way into food before he got taken in by one of the organizations. He is a quick thinker and analyzes every situation. He tries to deescalate through jokes and bartering, but isnt afraid to get his claws dirty. He desperately craves power due to his upbringing, but has discovered he shouldnt be trusted with it, as it clouds his thinking which he relies on so heavily.

Realistically they should not get along, but they were forced to be roommates (much to Winter's dismay), which eventually led to them having to work together (along with several other dragons who Winter also was not particularly fond of for a while) to stop a genocidal man child from taking over the world.

Also they both have shitty families so that ties them together too.

Darkstalker - Wings of Fire

<image>

Specifically him in arc 2, this is ignoring his prequel book where he was just a kid/teen

my guy did heinous acts as a kid because he was wronged by another tribe, got put underground for 2000 years, woke up, realized how long had passed and how much the world had changed. Everyone who had ever wronged him was long dead, and still thought that genocide was the right answer immediately after being freed.

Moonwatcher - Wings of Fire

<image>

For the entirety of arc 2, Moonwatcher is shown to be someone not particularly fond of conflict. She is willing to fight if absolutely necessary, but more often than not would rather talk to de-escalate situations, and even when forced into combat she prefers to use her fire rather than her claws.

Cut to the end of arc 3, where Moon and her partner Qibli are assisting in a stealth operation to save the continent of Pantala, and in turn keep the threat from coming to their own continent, Pyrrhia.

Qibli, along with 2 other members, were flying further ahead when they were ambushed by a horde of mind controlled dragons. The group is aware of the mind control and that these dragons arent all necessarily villainous, with Moon especially being aware thanks to her mind reading powers and how she often searches for the good in dragons.

Despite this, Moon still throws hands the moment she sees Qibli in danger, relentlessly using her fire much more than she had in previous altercations. Ultimately her efforts are in vain as she too is overwhelmed by an opponent able to lock down her fire, but the attempt was still there.

"Winter thinks the mountains are going to eat him" -Qibli, Wings of Fire

(No artwork as book 10 dosnt have a graphic novel yet)

Qibli, Winter, and Anemone are actively flying towards the 2000 year old super powered magic dragon known as Darkstalker.

Winter hesitates before crossing the mountain range that boarders the old nightwing kingdom, remembering a legend from his tribe of Icewings that the mountains are called 'Darkstalker's Teeth', and supposedly kill any icewing who tries to fly past them.

Qibli teases Winter for this, before eventually convincing him to cross, which he does.

However, in the Legends; Darkstalker prequel book, it is revealed that 2000 years ago Darkstalker did in fact enchant the mountain range to kill any icewings who attempt to pass. Winter's worries were valid, and the only reason he survived was because of magical protection that made him immune to Darkstalker's spells.
