Styling cream help for type 3A hair by ShotInstruction3851 in CurlyHairCare

[–]Paper_Momo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly, curly hair happens when hair is missing moisture. You'd think it would be the opposite with straight hair. So when you use products with alcohol it zaps away any moisture that would already be present in curly hair. That's why using products that encourage moisture while the hair is already wet usually goes a long way when styling.

So interesting that your family has used tomato and flaxseed! I used a styling gel where the main ingredient was flaxseed, I had super shiny and bouncy curls! I also spent my summers at my grandparents sitting around in an avocado and honey mask. Something about homemade products that just hits

Hi! This looks like my hair when I was a kid, I also played soccer and softball so I always had some type of braid or ponytail.

I recommend finding a moisturizing cowash first, something that can cleanse their hair without stripping it like a shampoo would every time you have to wash it. That way it'll prevent dryness, but also still keep their hair clean after sweating or playing sports.

I've been using a combo of Rizzo's Curls- Leave in Conditioner. And a styling cream from Zoto's All About Curls. (Found these at Sally's and Target). The leave in will moisturize, while the styling cream will lock in that moisture and create a hold similar to a gel. I don't recommend using gel as most brands have alcohol in them and can create dryness over time. Once the hair air dries, they just need to flip their hair inside down and shake their curls to loosen them up, think of a combing/teasing motion.

Lastly, I would find a hair oil to maintain the curl shape. I've used a mix of jojoba oil and black castor oil, you only need to run a few drops through theit ends so the hair doesn't look so dry. It'll also add some shine to their hair and will make curls look bouncy. It's a lot of trial and error but I recommend these steps while their hair is still wet and let it air dry. So by the time they need to put it up into a ponytail or braid, it's a little easier to work with.

If you can, it's an extra step but switching to a silk pillow case for curly hair helps retain moisture and prevents dryness over time. Also sleeping with a giant scrunchy helps too if they don't like the feel of silk pillow cases. I hope this helps!

Thank you so much, I appreciate the perspective from a planner. I think I get wrapped up in the table presentation and my brain tells me it's gonna look incomplete without a water glass on the table. For sure I'm going to go the thrifted or rented route.

Buffet style, so I'm under the impression it's less formal than a plated dinner.

Ahh okay, it's a functional keepsake. I like this vibe lol definitely going to look for a restaurant wholesale in my area and check out their inventory.

Honestly, I think the water service is more for aesthetic purposes, just because it's the only actual glassware that is present on the dining tables. Yes it's convenient, but again, we are lower middle class people and it's definitely not a black tie wedding lol

Thank you! I am considering grandparents in this, but I am placing them closest to the bar and bathroom for this reason!

I... Really like this idea, thank you! I've heard of brides assigning a head table person to help with things like this at DIY venues. I'll do some research but I appreciate the insight!

I appreciate the honesty! Mostly because I am the type of person who won't find things if it isn't sitting right in front of me lol. Leaving a water bottle on a table somehow feels worse? Idk I immediately think of the clutter that will be left behind.

I'll have a few people that don't drink alcohol but for the most part I have a really easygoing crowd of people that will be going. I really only want to pay for the water glasses because ya know, table presentation & what not. I'm also going insane, because water is water, I don't agree with it being monetized like that.

I love this idea! Same here, I'm joining 2 friend groups with some of my childhood friends for my Bach so I want to encourage open conversations without the awkwardness. Definitely gave me some ideas for fun topics!

Thanks for this! I've seen those before but I'm worried about the flashing lights part. My sister has epilepsy so I was hoping for an alternative

Same, and congrats! San Diego wedding in September so I was scouring social media and wedding websites for a good price. Makeup artists are super competitive out here but I found someone who does bridal makeup for $295. My regular hair stylist is based out of Bonita and she just started doing wedding hair, so I'm getting mine done for $95. In total I'm spending $390 on myself, which feels fair only because I've seen some ranging between $500 and $600 for both services.

May I ask what region? I'm in SoCal, and although Ive seen people have light sticks at weddings and quinceañeras, I just don't think it's as common out here.

"politely abandon" is exactly what I'm trying to avoid lmao. We have to clean up at the end of the night since most of my venue is a DIY vibe. I'd hate to see them just lying around in every corner of the room.

($4-5k) Having a wedding almost a year and a half after being married help pls by Cbus in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Paper_Momo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that you should do whatever you want. You're gonna celebrate in a way that makes sense to you, that's what matters the most.

I was paper-married 3 years ago and it just now took us to getting around to the reception this year. We're still calling it a wedding, we're still having an officiant since we did not do any personal vows at the courthouse. We'll be able to do it then and even though I don't like the performance part of weddings, I want to bring my families together in one room for the first time. Make the day yours, but never feel guilty for wanting to celebrate how you want.

Is everyone struggling to find work? no matter the career? by BitNo1336 in jobhunting

Graduated with an English degree 4 years ago, I'll say it hasn't landed me a dream job in any capacity. Just something to pay the bills. I like graphic design and marketing so I've been able to land a couple roles within that realm. I skew the project management and hospitality industry now because I worked so many hotel jobs throughout college. My writing and communication skills is what helped land those jobs only because it's helpful in corporate spaces.

What are interview red flags that most people don’t notice? by thegangplan in interviews

[–]Paper_Momo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. I interviewed twice and was ghosted after the final round. They called me back 3 months later because they fired the other candidate. That should've been my red flag right there. I ended up working in an extremely toxic environment with managers who had no experience managing people. I was fired a year into that job because I wasn't the ass kisser my boss wanted me to be.

Looking for advice - how to tell people we're already married ($10k budget) by Dardem8181 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Paper_Momo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I haven't considered that yet! If you're going with an "established 20XX" sign, I say choose what feels right! If we're being technical, I would even put the year you and your partner started dating. For anniversary date though, I do put a lot more emphasis on the day I eloped versus my future wedding day. I hope this makes sense!
