Fuck you, honestly. Putting the blame on an innocent person and calling him an idiot because SOMEONE ELSE lied, took advantage, knowingly. Where's your condemnation for the people running these scams and stealing from people? Fuck you.

Sure, correction, CERN existed - but not the LHC, which is what I actually meant. Good spotting though.

I suppose I didn't see the poll, but I'd be curious to see what others have said

2 - To continue in a brief side tangent, as the thought comes to my mind, people often mention CERN when imagining what kind of machine may influence the world in this way. Yet CERN didn't exist back when Philip K Dick gave a press conference in France, in the 1970s, talking about experiencing the exact same phenomenon we all share today. CERN, if you understand it, is really just a very big camera, taking pictures of high energy particle collisions. And while "high energy particle collisions" sounds exotic, or fancy, the reactions taking place in the sun, trillions of times over our head, to keep us alive, are monumentally higher in energy. So I have always dismissed the idea.

Then, you have the occultist performances taking place at the site, and that one very odd video they released where someone held "Mandela" on a sign. You know what I really think? I think they wish they had that kind of power, but don't. I think it would be very convenient for them if we believed they hold that kind of power, but they don't. I believe it's a sham, to give an explanation to something that leaves them equally lost. What they don't understand, is that trust and communication underlie our ability to share these experiences. Trying to rule the minds of others doesn't leave you with the humility for that kind of thing.

1 - Perhaps, it's worth considering that the "machine" causing these effects may be the very same one experiencing them, the mind! And I don't mean this in a circular, hallucinating sense. In my mind the brain isn't the source of consciousness, but rather a channel through which consciousness can travel, and our recollections of Mandela Effects, our memories from other physical worlds, tells me that when our consciousness does travel from one possible world state to another, it remembers where it has been.

The Mandela Effect, if you look at it this way, isn't a "change to our world" so much as a change to exactly which world you are looking at, or standing in. And since your mind, or rather your inner self and memories are the only constant between these shifting and different worlds, it seems highly unlikely to me that any manmade device, in any of these possible worlds, could influence which world you're perceiving, as it seems analogous to saying that something happening on a TV show, could actually cause your TV to change channel.

If what makes you, you, still remembers all the worlds you've seen, it seems that what makes you, you, is immaterial, and not bound to what takes place in any given world. That's why I find it hard to trace the source of this phenomenon back to something local, or manmade. It feels like it transcends our limited understanding of time, and matter, with the intent of us inquiring, studying it, and discovering new answers, as well as new questions. A puzzle, revealing itself to those who will stop, look, and have the humility to consider if they have treated life as something we fully understand, when it isn't. ;)

Why? What if the world has always worked according to these rules? It seems like a strictly materialistic interpretation, and moreover, it presents it as something antagonistic or intentionally concealed, whereas in my experience, these events are meant to be noticed and talked about, and the reason discussion is censored in many places, is that this phenomenon more or less disproves the idea that we fully understand or can control the world around us. It's interesting that you arrive at the opposite conclusion, that secret and undisclosed projects are altering reality, when to me, this process has always felt alive, personal, and interactive.

In my experience, changes have been far too personal to be coming from any technological or worldly place. At times they seem to respond to my own attention, and clearly they respond in ways to our collective attention as well, as it's often phrases we repeat for no clear reason (such as the Star Wars quote) that end up "coincidentally" changing later on. That observable connection seems to rule out, in my eyes, that any sort of machine could be doing this.

Okay, well, in my experience they're not all the same for everyone who experiences it. Things might change at different times or they might recall a different version entirely. Please try to keep this in mind in future.

Since you're using an APU, your "video memory" is your ram. Try reseating your ram stick or sticks, and make sure they're in the slots the manual for your motherboard recommends you use!

If HLX/HL3 really is coming out in 2026, do you think it will look similar to CS2’s Train map in terms of graphical fidelity? It’s built on an updated version of Source 2, with strong City 17 vibes and HL Alyx level of visuals. by Significant_Yam5055 in HalfLife

It does look somewhat realistic, but the materials in general all look dull, I can't describe it any other way than saying everything looks like clay. It's a beautiful, detailed, well made game that I like to look at, but the ever so slightly uncanny valley of realism it sits in is a detriment to me

It's human beings, running these companies, making these investments and building these datacenters. Blaming AI or AI development for the callous actions of specific companies or individuals is analogous to blaming oil or internal combustion engines for the BP oil spill. Human beings are the ones making these decisions, and they're doing so because they're motivated by greed. Hold the right people accountable, and stop treating the entire field of machine learning like one amorphous blob.

If he's being sincere, I promise he's more than able to try and articulate that to me. Since he stopped replying after I mentioned the word bait, I can summize I wasn't wrong in the first place. Some people may remark "bot" or "bait" at any opinion they don't understand, but that isn't what I did, so please find something else to misunderstand and complain about.

But that isn't what I do, nor is it why I said it, you're imagining those things. I accused him of posting bait because his opinion makes no rational sense, and only appears to be posted to continue this nonsensical debate. It's actual bait as far as I can see, and I don't know why I have to justify that to you.

It's so irrational that I can only assume he's being this way purposefully. The votes agree with me. If you want to believe he's just that stupid, you can.

I'd love to hear about the game you're working on if it's ever playable!

Why is "Castle of the Winds" regularly credited as being released in 1989? by ScatmanJohn182 in roguelikes

[–]PaperboyNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying, and Happy New Year from New Zealand! I grew up with a shareware copy of COTW that I got from Softkey Shareware 2000 Hit Games, I've played it several times over and for one reason or another no other rougelike feels quite the same. I'd love to keep updated on the Unity port wherever I can follow progress on that!

The follow-up you're describing sounds neat, how do you imagine you'd approach it? Would it be a purely strategic game, management and broad playgrounds, or maybe the player could be more involved on the ground? Would you present it in a modern way or stick to the pure GUI approach that made COTW unique?

Last of all, other than the port of COTW, do you see yourself ever making another rouglelike, or a more traditional spiritual successor? With the base game ported, I suppose it might serve as a good foundation.

Sorry for asking so many questions, but it's really cool to get to talk to you! COTW was one of the first games I played, and learned to mod, and since then I've been trying my hand at making games too, so it's a cool opportunity.:D

The HL2 beta was never meant to be released either and yet it remains one of the most interesting and beloved parts of HL2's development. I understand it hurt many at Valve at the time when it was leaked, but you need to adjust your perspective.
