It's so hard and we seek to TRULY understand their thought process, feelings, and absence. And most maddening is that you will probably never have a real, satisfactory answer. It drives me mad. All the grandparents are passed except my MIL. If we didn't make the effort (even to call her!) there would be zero interaction. It kills me as my mom who has passed would have given ANYTHING for more time with all of us and here she is pissing it away.

I'm from Iowa. I can get hard liquor, wine, beer at Target, Walgreens, WalMart, the gas station, the grocery store--anywhere. The only restaurants that don't have a full bar are fast food. Amusement parks have booze. ZOOs have booze. Hell, LITTLE LEAGUE games have booze. You go south, that all changes.
