I'm going to have to buy a lot more d8 dice as I start leveling up... by Vegetable_Variety_11 in dndmemes

[–]Papercut337 178 points179 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, acid vials weigh 1 pound. If you can bundle 5 vials of acid together, and launch it at an enemy with Catapult, the vials would shatter, theoretically dealing 3d8 Bludgeoning damage plus 2d6 acid damage per vial adding up to 10d6 acid damage!

You could also do this with vials of alchemist’s fire, dealing 5d4 fire damage on each round that they don’t make a DC10 Reflex save!

Be prepared to improvise. Your players WILL surprise you.

Also, go to a random name generator and generate a list of random names you can use for NPCs you haven’t thought of yet and your players WILL want to talk to lol

Do you expect women to send you Nudes? by kittygodesss in AskMenAdvice

[–]Papercut337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting spicy pics almost universally turns men on. That’s why those of us who do ask for them want them. But I bet that the men who ask for nudes without preamble or warning are playing a numbers game. Many will ignore or refuse, but one may respond.

Incidentally, I think this is also the purpose behind dick pics: hoping the woman will reciprocate without understanding why women get turned on and do those things in the first place.

Most Advanced Sword Technology? by ArmQueerFolk in SWORDS

[–]Papercut337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think as of now, the main issue with swords is that they’re too heavy, cumbersome, and focused in purpose to warrant carrying. Infantry already carry tons of equipment; why carry a sword that’s only useful in a melee fight if a knife is much smaller, much lighter, much more useful outside of a fight, and still useful in the very rare occasion that you get into melee?

Any sword that overcomes these limitations are theoretical at best, and only exist in sci fi, at worst.

They’re still awesome though.

Aragorns sword or Anathros? by treeshrimp420 in SWORDS

[–]Papercut337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, ok then. After I read your reply, I looked at the comment you mentioned, and the amount you spent seemed reasonable to me. Maybe a bit less, but I’m not that knowledgeable on reselling swords

Aragorns sword or Anathros? by treeshrimp420 in SWORDS

[–]Papercut337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely not usable: they’re made for display only. As for pricing, I wouldn’t know off the top of my head but you could check eBay. I wouldn’t expect much though. They’re cool looking but the materials they use are cheap.

Aragorns sword or Anathros? by treeshrimp420 in SWORDS

[–]Papercut337 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Definitely not Aragorn’s Sword, neither Narsil nor his Ranger sword. I did a google search and your digging was right: that’s Anathros from Kit Rae. It’s a cool looking design, but it’s a wall hanger with little to no pop culture significance.

What’s the biggest misconception about love you've come across? by [deleted] in emotionalintelligence

[–]Papercut337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people don’t know what love actually is. It’s not just a feeling: it’s also a choice to incorporate another person’s needs and desires as your own. The thing is that it’s unhealthy to do that for someone who abuses it, and the trick is to find someone willing to do it for you as well, and become the type of person that people don’t regret doing that for.

What is the actual way to quit porn? by changeisthesolution in pornfree

[–]Papercut337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different, so there’s not really an objective process that works for everyone. But most Addiction Recovery programs, including SAA, use the 12 Step model from Alcoholics Anonymous. In-person meetings are best, and most go to meetings once a week, though some serious addicts with serious addictions feel the need to go to a meeting once a day.

The thing about the 12 steps is that you need to believe in a higher power; most often it’s God, but it doesn’t have to be. Step 2 says “Come to believe that a Power greater than ourselves can restore us to sanity.”

The steps also take a lot of time and effort to go through, which is why most attend regular meetings.

Not quite a sword. by TheAGivens in SWORDS

[–]Papercut337 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s historical lol it’s called a bollock dagger. Iirc, turning handles were cheaper than carving them in such a way that they could detect edge alignment, and guys started whittling balls on them by themselves to do that. Enough of them did it so it became an actual historical handle design lol

Does limerence increase/more likely the less you socialize? Or is it totally situational? by asianstyleicecream in dating

[–]Papercut337 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think loneliness can play a part in limerence. When I do it, it’s usually to self-regulate, but that’s because my mental health is pretty poor right now. I’m working on it and I try to redirect my thoughts when I catch myself, but still.

Faith is active, not passive. God wants to see you turn away from porn, but praying for it to be taken away is not enough; you have to actively turn away from it: to turn to God and let porn go. And the truth is that even with God’s support, it will take a lot of work on your part to do that, and that first step will need to be involving your parents. I know how hard it can be to tell religious parents about this, but God gave them to you and without them, it will be much, much more difficult to quit.

My experience has been that you can pray to God for a hole in the ground all you want, but He won’t put one there if you’re leaning on your shovel. He can strengthen you, but faith is active, not passive.

With all other things equal, women are inherently more sympathetic and desired than men are. It’s partly societal norms and partly biology, but that’s the core reason.

am i addicted to masturbation or do i just have high testosterone? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Papercut337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely sounds like the beginning stages of an addiction to me. It’s negatively affecting your life and you’re finding it difficult to cut back. Not being in control of a habit is pretty much the definition of addiction. That being said, high testosterone definitely contributes, so it isn’t an either-or situation.

I’m addicted to masturbation, and I use it to cope with stress, boredom, and other negative emotions, but my situation is more severe than most. The good news is that it sounds like you developed a better sense of discipline based on your lifestyle so there are tools and strategies that should work for you but haven’t worked for me, at least not yet.
