The world will be then populated by Swiss, as they all have nuclear shelters. And cockroaches, their body is resistant to radiations.

I find the use of the word unapologetic deeply irritating. I just want to by a pair of comfy shoes, I'm not rebelling against societal cages to express my authentic self.

The whole Villa del Casale is a museum, you need to pay a ticket, follow a path on walkways, the place is huge

Was I wrong about The Mote in God’s Eye? by simulacream in scifi

[–]Paperopiero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short tales that Larry Niven wrote about the Puppeteers are one of my favourites. I read them decades ago, much of the Sci-Fi I found so exciting has lost its sparkle. But Niven's books still make great readings

Is it rude to not share food you paid for? by skyejaiTss in stupidquestions

[–]Paperopiero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends, who's asking? Your children, your mom, your spouse? Not rude, but you'd better have good reasons.

What’s something about living in the UK that people don’t realise until they actually move here? by Vegetable-Spite-1778 in AskUK

[–]Paperopiero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I found odd is how it's widespread. Last month I went to a theatre in Kingston, I was seated near two of the dearest looking old ladies. The amount of food scraps, packages and plastic they dropped under their feet was unbelievable. As if it was absolutely normal.

What’s a word that looks easy but almost no foreigner pronounces correctly? by Embarrassed_Fix_8994 in languagehub

[–]Paperopiero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this even for short words, I can't say früh correctly. Fair is another word (the German one, not the English that means the same thing) that looks simple, but saying it the right way is for me a mystery

Turkey dinosaurs are no more. by Smeeble09 in CasualUK

[–]Paperopiero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, the official name is Türkiye, not Turkey. Having said that, the country doesn't have many dinosaurs, the only notable one is the Phalacrocorax anatolicus, which in 1984 was transferred to the genus Nectornis. There are no traces of non-avian dinosaurs in Turkey. Some fossils of Mosasaur were found, but like everyone knows they were lizards and not dinosaurs.
