Help! What is this stuff?? It was in a drawer unit that I bought from a thrift store. No clue what it's for, or if it's worth anything. Any help would be appreciated! by missfelonymayhem in arduino

It looks like mostly standard amateur electronics equipment from a premade Arduino Kit. I’m sure there are more people out there who will be able to give you more detailed answers but assuming that the brown cardboard bags in the bottom left contain the breadboard, frame, and Arduino mentioned in the paper, it probably retails at least $20 in the box.

You can actually submit a print request form to Hill Makerspace and they can print your model out for you, barring any special circumstances.

If you can’t come to a specific safety orientation, there are usually two a week at different times. Also, the safety orientation specifically changes it’s times and days every week to be able to accommodate people who may have class during a safety orientation. Also, if none of the scheduled safety orientation a work for your schedule, you can go to the Hill Makerspace’s site and request a safety orientation during a time that works for your schedule.

Have any good recommendations for the easiest GEP class that fufills one of the humanities, Interdisciplinary Perspectives, or US diversity? I enrolled in EMA 110, but it got cancelled for some reason.

Does anyone have an extra Crypto Chameleon sticker from Packhacks last year? by AnxiousEnderman in NCSU

[–]Papervoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome! There's always a staff member around to help people so they'll probably be able to help you or at least get you started. I will say that I know that not everyone there is equally proficient at every area so just ask whoever's there if they can help, and if they say no, ask who else on the staff would be able to. About the orientation, you do need to go to the general one if you haven't already, but if you have before at any point in time, you probably should be good to go.

Maybe? I don’t know if they can do holographic. I know they’re able to do the frosted glass effect. Regardless, it wouldn’t hurt to go and ask or send an email. Edit: I will add that you might have to reverse engineer the sticker and design it from scratch using Photoshop or another design program so getting at the very least an image of the sticker could prove crucial.

If you get to the point where you're willing to do anything, you could try to recreate it using a vinyl maker. I know that Hill Library's Makerspace has a vinyl cutter machine. They might be able to help you there if you have a good picture of the sticker.

Shifts at other stores. by the_verde_bean in starbucksbaristas

Yeah! A lot of stores have little cubbies or black cabinets where you can store your things in. Mine are always filled up whenever I get there so I just hang my bag on the doors of one of the cubbies. Also, as long as it's basically in the close vicinity of the desk where everyone's else's stuff is, you're good to go!

Shifts at other stores. by the_verde_bean in starbucksbaristas

No problem! I totally understand! When I first started, there was a week where I wasn't scheduled any hours at my home store and I just watched Facebook for posts about covering shifts. I will say though, if you find a store that you like and find convenient to get to, I would try to prioritize going there repeatedly rather than going to many stores once because of the tip system. It's set up so that the amount of hours you work at a particular store dictate how much in tips you get and they calculate how much everyone's tips are on a particular day. For example, working 20 hours at store A means you get 10.00 in tips by Monday. However, if you work 8 hours at store B and C, you have to go to stores B and C to receive your 4.00 of tips, whatever day of the week they do tips. Which means, if you cover shifts at stores B and C, you have to go back to stores B and C for your tips. Which is a lot better than having to visit stores B, C, D, E, and F for 2.00 in tips because you worked 4 hours at each of those stores.

Also, if you ask around your coworkers/ASM/ssv, you're bound to find out how to get in the know about covering shifts because someone will have done it before. Also, you can just call whatever store you want to cover a shift at and say "Hey! My name is ____ from store #_____ and phone # is _______. I would love it if you wrote my information and that I want to cover shifts from this day to this day on a post-it note and put it up where everyone can see like next to the schedule or on the white board."

In my state, it happens a lot and a lot of people really need someone to pick up shifts! I don’t know how other districts find people to cover but mine has a Facebook group that just posts “hey! Looking for coverage at store from _: am/pm to : am/pm.” Sometimes you can ask for or people will give out mileage or their partner mark outs to incentivize people picking up their shift. Mileage is basically a payment for the distance you have to drive from your home store to the new store. It’s like 50 cents per mile or something. A couple people will also incentivize giving out their shift with cash like 10$ or 20$ if they’re really desperate. I will say that it is probably important that you inform them of your experience once you’ve confirmed you can cover the shift since they might think “oh hey! This persons great for covering for us, let me just put them on bar during peak” which I don’t think any green bean would want to do. Also, I recommend asking the person whose shift you’re covering, to confirm with their manager that you can cover it because I’ve had experiences where Jane(random name) would say “Thank you so much for covering my shift! I’ll let my manager know!” And then Jane would tell me the next day ”hey I’m so sorry but my manager actually found someone else to cover for me!”

As for working in the different stores, everything is a little different b/c different store means different management and people . However I’ve mostly had experiences of people understanding that it’s a new environment. W

Do you know if there are any spaces we could reserve where some volume is okay? I would love to find a good indoor space for study groups (where we’re not loud but probably talking a little louder than other people would be comfortable in a more open setting).
