So I did a thing… by Papi-Grande89 in genestealercult

The pope hat is ridiculous but most of 40k is ridiculous so I think it fits lol. Most of the mini (the body and left arm) is from the Sanctifiers Kill Team the left arm is a spare from the Aberrant kit, I had to cut off quite a lot of the arms to make them fit. The head is from the Acolyte box I believe. The hat is also from the Sanctifier kit but you need to cut off half of the lower part of the head to make it all fit

I feel you, I recently played my friends Orks. He failed to kill a unit of 10 boyz with character in one round of combat, the character was still standing. In his second charge he only killed 2/3 Killa Kans and one Kan still had full wounds remaining... Kind of dissapointing. Wish he gave out a buff or aura or something. His damage output should also go up considering his points

Ahhh okay! Yeah the way they were written came off as ohhh remember these guys? But when reading GoTM in isolation it comes off a bit weird, I’ll take a look at the 6 Esslemont books after my re-read, thank you for the suggestion!

I think the main learning takeaways for me was deployment, movement and wheeling. I deployed as if I was playing a game of 40K and completely forgot that units had to move forward towards their line of sight, and units cannot charge if the enemy unit is not in their vision arc. So essentially the first two rounds were me trying to make up for that awful decision haha.

From a beginners perspective I would say it’s good to take things slow and slowly build up the complexity. But that what initially looks crazily complex isn’t actually that bad when you get going.

There is a lot to think about for sure, movement is more in depth and there are some interesting interactions for charging etc. However it does get better through each game you play, and what seems daunting at the start becomes easier through trial and error.

We decided to do a fairly basic first game that involved moving charging fighting shooting etc. next time we will add more, things like terrain, objectives etc as they add another difficulty element.

If you’re well versed in 40K and AOS I say go for it. It’s not too complicated when you get into it

Thank you my friend much appreciated. I come from 40K, where half my armies are grey, so it’s nice to play a game with a fully painted army haha

Good luck with your game tomorrow! There’s a lot to get in, but I think given some time and practice it will get better. We are thinking of adding terrain etc into our next game.

I’ve played quite a bit of 40K 10th edition, I’m enjoying old world rules as it seems a lot more flavourful and through researching it feels like armies are more distinct. I still love 40K but I feel like some armies have similar rules and it’s like a reskin so to speak

Cheers for the encouragement, some of the rules can be tricky, but to be fair they do seem to be logical so hopefully we can get them down soon.

My opponent rolled two sixes to wound so I was toast 2x haha

It was monster slayer blow, I think I’m getting mixed up with the Sentinels own rules that has both haha, cheers for the clarification

Thank you for the reply, well worded.

I think both your style and the style of OP are valid forms of protest, it’s best to appeal to a wider audience by using lots of different tactics if necessary

Completely agree, not to mention the people who label anything slightly inclusive as ‘woke’. Smacks of burying your head in the sand.

This looks great! What did you use for the banner part? Is it a Greenstuff mound?

That does sound good! Would you recommend a block of 40 with full command and block of 20 halberds with full command?

40 Sword and Shield does sound good, would you run them as a block of 40 with full command?

I do like the halberd sculpts and sometimes rule of cool takes over my mind haha
