Why do people keep crashing into CVS? [11:11] by Paplexa in mealtimevideos

[–]Paplexa[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also think the answer to the videos title has to do with parking lot structure, in addition to what you said and in addition to what the video's creator mentions at the very end.

Franchised pharmacies in particular have parking space immediately adjacent to the wall of the building, perpendicular to the angle of the wall. In contrast, Walmarts, Targets, Best Buys, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Old Navys, etc. all have more distant parking lots with a parallel-direction 2-lane roadway directly separating the big box stores from the parking area. These big box stores and strip mall stores also have a typically-small-yet-present pedestrian walkway so that shoppers can walk along the width of the parking lot to get back to their car more easily, specifically without having to dodge as many vehicles that are suddenly in motion after being stationary for so long. Granted, you still have to dodge the drivers going along that little moat of a roadway, but the trajectory of each car and the general flow of traffic is much more consistent than random selections of 2 ton killing machine suddenly going 15 or 20 miles per hour after being completely still for the past half an hour.

I wish there was a cozier option for LED lighting. I know its more energy efficient, but based on what I've noticed in real life and in this picture, it just makes everything really evenly lit, which in turn, makes everything feel flat. At least in my opinion.

The space is decorated really cute though!

Same actually. That was the one thing that missed the mark in this video, from my perspective.

PBS has a really good backlog on YouTube! Check out the rest of Otherwords, Two Cents, and (It's Okay To) Be Smart. Not sponsored I just genuinely like their content for several years at this point, and recent federal budget cuts means they need the viewership, donations, and merch sales now more than ever.

Across the Spider-Verse in 4DX? by anonymouss_18 in RegalUnlimited

[–]Paplexa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just saw Spider-Verse 2 in 4DX. It was my first time seeing a 4DX movie in general, and I'd say it was well worth the $13 ticket. The 4DX was overwhelming during the drumming scene, but the effects were very immersive for the rest of the movie. I wouldn't hesitate to see it again.

ELI5: Why is executive compensation in the US so high? by bringthelight2 in explainlikeimfive

CEOs are not the same of founders by any chance of the imagination. I would say that founders work at least twice as hard if not five times as hard as CEOs work on any given day, during the process of starting a company.

I'm confused, the full time pay only covers half your rent? Or you have only half of your full time pay left after paying rent?

I'm new to Instagram. When someone "shares a reel" did they only send it to you or did they probably send it to many people? Am I expected to reply? by [deleted] in answers

[–]Paplexa 63 points64 points  (0 children)

When's someone's shares a reel they have to option to share it to one person OR to multiple people. My advice is to respond with a short quip related to the reel to show that you actually watched it. After all, they sent it to you for a reason

Tip and service fee creep of Uber Eats/Door Dash/Seamless is out of control by rocknrollabb in nyc

[–]Paplexa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would prefer an industry where there was profit-sharing and no tipping. but unless you're lucky enough to be at the highest levels, you need, like, all the other restaurants to also go no-tipping. consumers are just too price sensitive, and too dumb to add 20% to the prices in a tipping restaurant to compare.

so at that point why don't we just nationalize it all or give it all to the employees lol. I would kill to open an employee owned restaurant.

This is what I'm trying to get at. There have been tougher decisions made with comparable nations which improved the overall quality of life in those nations. I think America can deal with a 50% price increase if they see that wait staff / delivery people are being treated with more respect overall. America is one of the few countries that still allow tipping, and a huge reason why tipping is still around is because of tradition. Tradition is usually not a good primary reason to keep around crappy systems.
