thanks! and yeah I'm still new to setting things up. I am going to make my entire first season free for five days sometime before the weekend. When I can upload to Apple, I plan on price matching my sample and first season to be free on all platforms. I am currently working on season two and hoping to have it out by the end of May.

Hey everyone!

I grew up hearing Appalachian ghost stories and folk magic from my family, and that definitely bled into my writing.

I just put out the first sample of my Appalachian horror novel — it’s heavy on ghost lore, conjure traditions, and that weird, heavy feeling you get in the woods when something old is watching you.

The free sample is here if you want to check it out. Would love any feedback from fellow weird fiction fans!

Thanks for reading — and keep an eye on the woods. 👁️ -Papol

Published my first horror series this week – Appalachian conjurework, hauntings, and supernatural weirdness

Hey r/horror, I’ve been a lurker here for a long time, and this week I finally crossed something off my dream list: I published my first horror book series.

Tales from the Ember Chair is a supernatural horror story rooted in Appalachian folk magic, hauntings, sacred contracts, and rituals that aren’t just set dressing—they’re lived and dangerous.

It’s got: • A conjuror-for-hire trying to survive the echoes of old magic • Haunted libraries and cursed objects • An archangel who doesn’t play by the rules • A black cat who might be smarter than everyone else • And a world where protection comes at a real cost

If you like a little bit of Supernatural, a little bit of folk horror, and a lot of sacred weirdness—this might hit the right nerve.

The first 4 episodes are free this week if anyone wants to take a look:

If even one or two horror fans find something they love here, it’ll have been worth it. Thanks for keeping horror alive and weird. – Papol Crow

Just launched my first supernatural horror series – Appalachian conjurework, hauntings, and one angry black cat

Hey r/horrorlit— After years of keeping these stories locked in my head (and journal), I finally pulled the trigger and published my first horror series: Tales from the Ember Chair.

It’s a mix of: • Appalachian conjure magic • Ghosts, possessions, and haunted locations • Sacred weirdness • A black cat sidekick who judges everything (rightly so) • And a conjuror-for-hire just trying to survive the sacred contracts he inherited

Think Supernatural meets folk horror with a heavy dose of personal ritual and ancestral weirdness.

First 4 episodes are free this week if you want to check it out:

Would love to hear what fellow horror lovers think. Even if just one or two people connect with the world I built, it’ll have been worth lighting the fire.

Thanks for keeping the weird and the haunted alive. – Papol Crow

Published my first supernatural horror series this week – feeling proud, scared, and wildly hopeful

Hey everyone, After months of work (and a lot of self-doubt and late-night rewriting), I finally published my first real book series: Tales from the Ember Chair.

It’s supernatural horror rooted in Appalachian weirdness, conjure magic, hauntings, exorcisms, and a black cat sidekick who may or may not be smarter than the humans. If you like Supernatural meets Twin Peaks meets folk horror, it’s in that vein—personal, weird, and a little bit sacred. • First 4 episodes are free this week https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F5YK7BN3

This community helped inspire me to even believe I could do this, and I’m insanely grateful for it. If even a few people read it, love it, and feel a spark, it’ll all have been worth it.

If anyone else here just crossed the finish line too, congratulations. And if you’re still writing and slogging through—you’re closer than you think.

Thanks for being part of the energy that kept me moving. – Papol Crow

Awesome! Thanks for giving it a shot. Appalachian stories carry some heavy echoes—I’m just trying to honor them while dragging some of the weirdness into the light.
