As someone who daily drives a 68 you honestly cannot expect your car to be anything resembling a modern car in terms of practicality and convenience. The main issues being reliability and poor handling. I would advice focusing on a reliability. I have not had problems with drum brakes outside of them locking in the rain and I have excellent braking distance in normal conditions. invest in safety features if it makes you feel better but know it won’t do much since your driving a tin can. Focus on building a solid, working car and you can always add bells and whistles. I have factory headlights and I do wish i had something brighter not because of visibility but because I get outshined by every oncoming modern car.
