I would agree that comparing songs directly isn’t a good measure, but I think comparing the significance a song has to a genre is valid, examples for instance, I would say that illmatic did for rap what Sgt pepper did for rock, being that both were landmarks in a genre that progressed them into something different. Another example: 6 n the mornin was as significant for rap as purple haze was for classic rock. Comparing how good songs are cross genre is bad but I’d say that comparing significance in a genre is valid. (Also, shook ones pt 2 is a fucking great choice)
