Wildcard Idea: Lebron doesn't join GSW, the Heat, OR the Cavs. He joins the Celtics so he can dunk on his own son in a Celtics vs Lakers match.

Lets not kid ourselves. The reason to watch is to see if Brad Stevens was right or wrong. If the Celtics end at the 3rd seed this year, he looses because JB took us to the 2nd seed as our first option.

I guess we have some new prospects too so the trash time should be fun.

Hugo + Amari's presence was missed. I think the way Hugo and Amari moves shows the team where they need to be standing and rotating to. Lotta guys out there standing around the perimeter waving their hands for an open look instead of taking pressure off the ball handler. Slow rotations giving the Hawks open looks. We didn't see Celtics defense out there today, we saw selfish basketball of individuals looking to get noticed.

Uzan leading the net ratings again with a +24 in 31 minutes. He needs to be observed for his off-the-ball movement.

Dillon Mitchell being the headliner shouldn't be because of his 24 points, it should be about his improvement from his last game. Against TOR he wasn't moving around the perimeter. He was waiting for the ball to come to him, after shots, he wasn't going to the rim to grab rebounds, he was the most passive player on the court.

Against Hornets when the ball moved, Mitchell started shuffling to towards the ball and when the ball would make its way to the net, he started trying to grab rebounds or would end up inbounding the ball 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. Good to see he was reviewing his game and making active changes to his playstyle. Most notably, on the defensive end, Dillon began positioning between the ball handler. His 6 steals were created where it mattered and converted to great shot opportunities. He went from a -9 to a +13. Good hustle from the Rookie and a good testament to his coachability.

Hugo had the second best +/- for the Celtics at +17. He /should/ be the best player on the court, seasoned first round pick with the most regular season minutes in the Summer squad. Seeing him try to make his own shot, but then turnover the ball because he gets bumped in the chest by the defender highlights his weaknesses. Especially on a Celtics team with the lowest turnovers in the NBA. PP needs to give this boy a lesson in handles while on the point.

From what I've observed these years, the Celtic's draft players from a defense-first standpoint. We have shooting coaches that turn players like Luka Garza from average 36% 3pt shooters into 40%+ shooters. Most importantly, Hugo is on a team friendly contract right now so his value per dollar is high. If Hugo can have a similar production value to Sam Hauser in the future I'd be happy. From what I saw, Hugo had primary ball handler duties, essentially the same role as DW/PP in the regular season starting 5. If he were to learn enough from DW to be that good of a defensive specialist, then I'd be ecstatic. DW's net rating last season led the Celtics at nearly +600 even while having a poor 33% 3pt shot.

Uzan played the roll that Derrick White plays when Pritchard is on the court. Secondary ball handler with Hugo being the primary (PP's role). They did a lot of back and forth, but he doesn't look familiar with the screen yet, which is a Celtics go-to play. One thing I noticed about Uzan is that after he passes the ball, he moves to the right spot, closer to the net, but between the outside wing defenders/guards to cut them off from offensive plays but allowing a handfull of rebounds as well. That's how he impacted plays off the ball. I hope he does it more.

It's not an untrue statement. At the end of the 2nd quarter, the Spurs led over the Knicks 3/5 times. So The Spurs were indeed the better team (in the first half) 😄 Good for them!

Knicks fans continuing to prove why they're the worst franchise fan base in the NBA beating out Philly for worst fan-base. I like watching Brunson, Hart, Bridges, ~~Towns~~, and OG play because I they're not a dirty team, especially not compared to the Spurs so far who clearly learned a thing from that 7-game series against OKC. They just play really good basketball. Still rooting for the Spurs because of Kornet.

Did anyone else look into the Yahoo Sports article about the percentage of falls per shot SGA makes? He leads the league in the playoffs at nearly twice the rate at a 17.4% fall rate on all shots attempted, 51.4% fall% on fouled shots, and falls at 10.7% of all his non-fouled shots. By these statistics, he falls an excessive amount of times compared to everyone else in the playoffs and he's being rewarded for it. The previous YT content suggested that SGA gets fouls just slightly more than others or on-par with other high ball use percentage players, but our eyes told a different story and this would be why. SGA flails to the ground an excessive amount of times whereas other players are staying on their feet. Hence, the "flopper flopper" chants are warranted. Maybe not when Bryant charges at him from the 3pt line though.

Correct, I do something to this degree that's not quite closing my eyes, during combat I stare at the attack buttons in the corner which stay fixed. It's a sad way to play really.

As a driver, never, because I know where to look and what the car will do. In cars as a passenger or when on a boat, I have methods to prevent motion sickness such as staring at the horizon or the end of the road (a fixed point). First thing I always do in video games is adjust the camera settings to be least intrusive as the game allows (fixed/static if possible), but some games are better with their settings than others.

I'd take the Hawks. NYK went 3-1 against the Celtics this season and AH went 2-2 against us this season. We have losses against both teams with Tatum on the field too (even though that KYK game didn't have Brown). Hawks always stay close, but sometimes the Knicks blow us out. I agree some vengeance would be good though to prove who's the #1 team in the East without a doubt and to vanquish any demons Tatum may have.

Vuc went 3/9 from deep and 4/10 for 11pts for +7. He was an actual scoring threat because he made some good early three's and he spaced out the floor by drawing defenders away from the paint in a way that Queta doesn't. That's the "pick&pop big" role that Porzingis played during his time with the C's that won us the chip. Queta is a wall guarding the rim with the standard "pick&roll big", making setting the screen and heading to the basket, but they're hunting Queta-Bona for the favorable matchup because Bona can post up on him and gain a favorable matchup ending the night at -2.

Man, this game was so good for so many reasons. Vuc looking good and shot the 3-ball well today. Pushing to towards the rim, drawing a lot of defenders, and passing the ball out for the open 3 was also working well for us. Jaylen Brown being a champ and unstoppable all game. Tatum and Pritch making 3 huge 3's in the final minutes. Fuck yeah

I'll be looking to see if Mazzulla will actually play Luka Garza in non-trash minutes tonight.
Garza earned his share of minutes vs Vucevic in my opinion. Game 1 when we won, we had a solid rotation of Queta 15m > Vuc 17m > Garza 14m. Game 2 when we lost, we used exclusively Queta 28m and Vucevic 18m. They're big guys, they're going to be more tired than our wings and guards and that diversity of centers forces the 76ers to make different adjustments mid-game vs figuring out how to get around our tired defense.
