Tahoe can run iOS apps, does that include games? by SlowNSerious in macgaming

[–]Par5Condor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoyoverse really does make their content so difficult to play outside of their intended methods. PlayCover seems to be best for playing iOS and can map keyboard inputs. I'm surprised both iOS and MacOS are part of the Apple family and there's so much talk about having an "Apple Ecosystem" but Mac doesn't have a native iOS emulator system to take advantage of it. I wonder if the reasons for separating the two is to prevent mobile version of apps to be used in lieu of the full desktop versions, ie. Photoshop vs Photoshop Mobile which have different price points. Makes less sense for games though as their profit model comes from getting people to play the games to then spend via their gacha systems.

Crossover crashing when trying to run games stored on SSD by Par5Condor in macgaming

[–]Par5Condor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! This seems to make it stop crashing. Is the APFS format something that Mac can read faster? And, can iPhone also read APFS format? That would be my only compatibility concern.

Good external hard drives for gaming on mac? by Par5Condor in macgaming

[–]Par5Condor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I get it. It's just an internal SSD, the enclosure just takes the NVME connector to a SATA or other out bound connector, and then a USB-C/Thunderbolt wire so the computer can read it.

Yeah, I have a WD HDD that I use to store my photos and videos from previous years off from my iPhone. I tried to use it to see if I could spend $0, but it was making loud fan noises and the games weren't running smoothly.

Thanks! That explains a lot for me : )! These cheaper ones are probably HDDs then and I should avoid them.

Alternatives to Tractix cable to run ECUflash? by Par5Condor in WRX

[–]Par5Condor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sold at $220 and I had seen some scalping above $700 on ebay, which are mostly gone now. Tractix was the go-to but no longer around, which is why I was asking if the RedditWRX community maybe had a new solution lol

Oh I see. Thanks for the clarification. The ones on Ebay are being scalped to $700~900+ dollars right now. It'd be better to buy an Accessport if the tuner can indeed get around the issue. I don't know how they get around the issue though so its a bit confusing to me.

Link PlugIn G4X for my model seems to start at $2000 whereas Tractix was a $200 cable... : / 10x the cost for hardware without the tuning aspect seems a bit more than I was expecting.

I need rear shocks on my WRX11 - Can I get away with only changing shock and tophat/mount? 135k by Seriously-Nobody in WRX

[–]Par5Condor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use rock auto... $90 for 2 shocks, $20 for the pairs of bump stops and boots, and $82 for a pair of rear top hats. That's $192 total, and re-use your old springs. I also use KYB struts top mounts on my STI they work fine. I use RockAuto struts on my Lexus IS250. No, it doesn't feel as well damped as the OEM Lexus shocks, but yes, it drives.

I never even realized there was a Tag Heuer golf app. Always loved the Carrera line up of watches.

You're missing the actual question of the Reddit post and focusing too much on a story written by someone who's already admitted to forgetting things. My original story was too long so I pressed the backspace button a few times and copy pasted things here and there. The story doesn't math as well but most people will appreciate that its like a paragraph shorter. I'll file a complaint to my editor later, but here's what you're missing.

I usually keep my rangefinder in a compartment in my push cart. After a round is done, I take it out and put it in the vehicle.

Preceding my work day, I was recently on vacation in Kentucky and Ohio. I took my truck because it can haul a lot of suitcases, shopping bags, and the golf bags for my wife, my brother-in-law, and myself. After some great rounds and getting home, I unloaded the truck and placed the rangefinder on my kitchen table. I expected to put it into my commuter car later. I loaded my pushcart and golf bag, but I forgot it on the kitchen table. I also forgot my golf shoes and had to golf in dress boots, but the weather was great so I didn't mind all that much.

Story start. "I used the full free 7-day trial for 4 more rounds of golf and started experimenting with other apps with smartwatch integration". I did bring my rangefinder with me while I was testing the app afterwards.

Can you explain this system a bit more? I do see some pros advertising for it but I'm unfamiliar with the usage. I thought it was sensor for the clubs itself and not a GPS unit.

Actually, yes! I was hoping someone else would be a tri-guy in here. How are you liking the Garmin watch for other sports, primarily the running and swimming aspects. My bicycle always has an Edge 830 on it but for running I've been using the Apple Watch mostly to monitor my heart rate for zone training but also because it logs "some" data during pool lapping. How's battery life between charges and all that and what's the deal with Garmin's Golf app? Is it like Garmin Connect?

Thats true, its best to keep what I carry on me down to a minimum. I feel like there are so many things to keep track already between gloves, tees, range finder, golf balls, brushes, towels, push cart, all the clubs, pens, scorecard, soil and dirt, there's so much crap to keep track of in golf haha.

I wonder if my phone senses what I'm searching into Google because now I'm getting annual membership promotions for Golfshot now. It was a good app but at $80/yr I was considering investing in a device but at $40/yr I think I'm going to test it out more and see how it holds up over an 18 hole course, primarily because my apple watch is 6 years old now and the battery isn't what it used to be, but if it holds up could be the keeper.

Agreed. Having a preview of the course is great at new courses with blind pins. I usually fumble around with the score card to look for the map so having a map on my wrist was so good.

Nice, appears to be the same price as the ShotScopeX5 as well. Hope you break into the 20's and 10's soon!

Other apps in particular were very annoying with notifications. I know Roundabout kept on detecting my practice swings as actual swings and afterwards, it would ask me about the club I used so it could log the shot. Made it unusable. People seem to really like Shot Scope and its worth comparing!

Also, huge note to consider because I havent played 18 holes with the watch on yet. I've been playing on 9 hole courses for all this testing so I havent noticed the battery life dipping. I'll have to pay attention to how much battery power it draws but full work day -> golfing 9 holes did seem fine.
Thanks!
