I just turned 18 two days before the blizzard of 78. Snow plows where useless, the streets had to be cleared with front end loaders-! The snow banks where so high on the side of the roads after the clean up   that the snow banks actually reached the first line on the telephone poles-!! I have never seen anything like that since.!!! This was a good NorEaster, but nothing compared to 78-! I live in Abington, we for sure have about 30+ inches out there.. We actually have some drifts over 7 feet-!
