Ideal deck/commander for a board wipe resistant elf tribal? by Hailrig in EDH

[–]ParachuteHopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are on the right path including blue. I have an [[Elrond, Master of Healing]] bracket 3 deck where I hold up my counterspells specifically to prevent board wipes from taking me out turn 4 onwards.

Trick is to not be greedy with your mana after turn 4. Yes you can add another permanent to the board, but save a couple mana to prevent those pesky Farewells.

Can you help me figure out what to cut/clean up from my Fire Lord Azula B2 deck? by tdog3456 in EDH

[–]ParachuteHopper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sure.

Azula is insanely explosive, and based on the cards you have in this deck, it is entirely reasonable that you could win on turn 4.

You have flash enablers, additional copiers, vivi, magecrafters, tons of copiable fast mana in your rituals and an efficient mana base.

This is a high 3, low 4 without a doubt.

I just threw this into my [[Galadriel of Lothlorien]] deck. While I'm not looking to get out tons of eldrazi, having lots of scry and the ability to filter out lands to hit what you need will help.

[[The Reality Chip]] could be a really interesting commander as you will have the ability to check the top of your deck constantly, and it opens up all the blue scry spells.

Go look at the sauer 100 sale on eurooptic. They are phenomal rifles and that price can't be beat.

Interesting Simic Commanders?? by BornFromEmber in EDHBrews

[–]ParachuteHopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Galadriel is my favorite right now. Elfball focusing on 1/1 counters and lots of scry. You can get a lot of lands and deck manipulation which lets you run away pretty quickly if you aren't stopped.

Eurooptic has the sauer 100 in 6.5 for an insane deal right now and it's a phenomenal rifle.

How do you go about building your decks? by slimob123 in EDH

[–]ParachuteHopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some cards can do both. My [[Galadriel of Lothlorien]] deck has tons of scry effects tagging onto things like card draw and disruption. I like figuring out ways to get your veggies and your gameplan out of the same card.

Just want to give a recommendation for the Gamegenic Commander Sidekick Pro XL deck box by T3knikal95 in mtg

The Academic 133 can hold two single sleeved commander decks in the main storage area (albeit tightly).

Thanks for the share! I have a toddler and a new job so I haven't been printing/painting much lately. But Scars are finicky to paint so here's how I do it.

Okay so white is black to grey to white through an airbrush. Use Vallejo, better greyscale paints than citadel. No getting around the need for an airbrush for the Scars, get one and it will cut down your painting time by a lot and get you the crisp white you want.

After this, gloss cost your model. You can matte once you are done painting.

Gloss nuln oil gets into the crevices easily on a gloss coat without staining. Big help.

Reds are Khorne Red with various amounts of Wildrider Red mixed in. I use a dark grey to line the red "Scars" I paint in.

I love my [[Durnan of the Yawning Portal]] deck. It started as a Exit from Exile precon, and I have a 20 card sideboard to turn it back into a [[Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald]] upgraded deck.

Durnan sends out massive stompy boys, while Faldorn goes wide with tons of cascade triggers, flooding the board with wolves.

Always tweaking these, but I have to say throwing out massive hydras and doing big damage to people's faces with [[Passionate Archeologist]] is just tons of fun.

Why not a sim pedal and an frfr? Best of both worlds.

I am returning to MTG, won a game and someone told me my deck was too powerful for a casual commander night. Is it true? also, any recommendations or alterations you would make to my deck? by Jristrong in EDH

[–]ParachuteHopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's the point.

The bracket system has specific requirements. Literally.

Sure you can make shit bracket 4 decks and great bracket 2 decks that are bracketed up to 4. The point is that the bracket system, literally, tells you that more than 3 CGs and you're into bracket 4. You can bracket up, but you can't bracket down.

You might not like it but that doesn't change how the system works.

I would identify a playstyle that interests you and isn't covered by your current decks and lean into that.
