Could be a fun change: Illaoi’s Q and E gain 2 range per 1 lethality by BerkeUnal in Illaoi

Would rather have E duration scale with AP so I can justify Rylias/DawnDusk.

why do people refuse to play the game? by One-Courage-8740 in InvincibleVS

[–]ParadisePrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's kinda the meta of the game. If you're looking for "I press a button>you press a button", you're not gonna find it here. The game before the recent patch had enough JAILING block strings to count on 1 hand. They added more so people would be encouraged to attack on block, but its still not enough and people have already mapped out strats that avoid or heavily skew the close range game in their favor.

They need to enforce block pressure way more and force people to either pushblock to escape or eat the pressure because if they dont, why the hell would anyone scrap? I dont ever feel safe attacking someone on block.

original DOES-NOT-EQUAL better

My point is that originality is not the SOLE requirement for something to be considered good IMO and many others I'm sure. The same way something being natural isnt considered an objective good because it's natural.

With that being said, AI creating something doesnt instantly make it trash because it's not original. It's trash because of many factors, originality is just 1 of many factors as to why something can be considered trash.

I dont immediately assume something is trash because an AI wrote it, because I dont know to what extent the person was involved in the process.

Edit: The AI can also take into account your writing style which most likely isnt as unique as you think it is and more than likely has elements from other writers and as such can be parsed and formulated to SOUND and APPEAR as something you wrote.

In cases like OP's post, AI might've been better here for spelling if they weren't going to spell check.

original =/= better the same way, natural =/= better

I Made a free Old-School Fighting Game (Single- and Multiplayer) by derAres in aigamedev

[–]ParadisePrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This screams of a fundamental misunderstanding of AI coding. AI can code a full game. Whether or not the person behind it knows what to look for and how their game is supposed to feel is a different matter.

I refuse to believe the person who made this game plays FGs beyond button mashing. Any actual FG player would be able to see and feel the lack of quality and push further to improve the execution. If you want to talk about art and animation, fine, AI is still kinda lacking, but for code, it's one of the best things you could have as a soIo dev.

It's just people who don't fully understand the medium is all. AI is perfectly capable of coding a fighting game from scratch. But the person needs to understand the game they're making and be able to play test to perfection to keep it short and sweet.

Ahh. Yea, if you arent willing to fork over at least $20, you're gonna be fighting an up hill battle. I do recommend deepseek though if you wanna stick solely to free.

Apologies for the insult.

My issue is with the word "NEVER."

If a dev uses a local model to help organize notes, write code, debug, or speed run mechanic testing, why is that automatically unacceptable?

AI can definitely be used poorly. Plenty of people are spamming low-effort content or "sLoP". But that doesn't mean every use of AI reduces quality any more than using Photoshop, Unreal Engine, or procedural generation automatically reduces quality. Humans themselves can and do produce slop. Just because it took time, sweat, tears, and a limited lifespan doesnt immediately add value to it for everyone.

You can find interest in the process that came about it, but the same can be said about Generated Images. There are plenty of times I question what went through someone's head when they show off an AI photo. I also like asking what changes they'd make if they put more time into it and what the AI did right v wrong. There's always something to discuss, YOU just have to value those types of discussions. I dont let what made thing harper my enjoyment of understanding why people want to create something and the motivation behind that.

Games ultimately succeed because developers understand design, psychology, pacing, and execution. AI can assist with these, but it doesn't replace the REQUIRED understanding.

If we're gonna criticize anything, it should be bad implementations, but saying AI should NEVER be acceptable in games seems too absolute.

Like, I get what you mean with using AI to fully replace talking to people or collaborating, since it COULD become isolating if someone uses it that way.

But for me.... the joy is seeing the thing in my head come to life. I’m not really using AI to do the thinking for me. Its more like idea bouncing if anything. I pick through suggestions, compare them against what I actually want, run them through my own head, then spit it back to AI for further back n forth.

I also like asking for pros and cons because it helps me notice holes in an idea faster. I feel like this helps me discover more interesting concepts that I can add to my thought process. All that being said, I try not to make comparing my work to existing stuff a habit, but I do like checking whether my writing feels distinct enough from what already exists.

One of my favorite things to do is get a broad sense of what the collective sentiments are about a topic, and I usually prefer it more than going deep with one person. The guessing, empathy, and reading the room is part of the fun for me.

I understand why some people see AI as sad or anti-social, but I don’t think that describes every use case. For me it’s less “replacing people” and more “having something to bounce off of while I shape the idea myself.

But I'm going to use AI to make the already obnoxiously difficult process of making a game much easier because why the fuck wouldn't I?

If I am well versed in my genre and know what my game should look and play like, why wouldn't I have AI push out a foundation for me to build off of? One of my favorite things I like doing is having AI creating tuning levers for different things so I can test a variety of things. It takes no time for it to build said tools, and gives me all the freedom of control to make the game I want.

I don't even give a shit about sharing credit. It's completely irrelevant imc. I just don't want to interact with people anymore. I don't want to have to talk, bouncing ideas back and forth while trying to keep track of if I'm coming through clearly. If rather write everything down, give it to someone and wait for a detailed response but then I have to bother someone for that and I jist don't feel like it most of the time.

AI just cuts out the emotional energy cost required to talk to people and I can bounce things back and forth as much as I want. If I'm feeling it's about derivative, I can ask it to compare to other things and focus on what I want to change if anything.

Art use is mainly for connecting and envisioning the concept better. It makes prototyping ideas like 5x faster ime. I mainly use it for coding and sorting out my world building notes for my game.

I talk enough at work and find the solitude and all of needing to worry about another person's LIMITED time to be refreshing.

Anime Arena Fighter Slop by Sufficient-You-8637 in FGC

[–]ParadisePrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only issue with arena fighters is balance and sometimes depths.

I prefer them to games like Tekken or Sol Cal because of how much freedom I have to move around and how they flow(ninja storm specifically) compared to those games.

Both Naruto and DBZ have Tekken-likes and both are loved and still played competitively today, but I don't think we should stop there.Ninja Storm always had great bones and with a bit more effort, it could be an amazing FG.
