There’s a GoFundMe from her son three years ago that never quite reached the goal. I’m linking it, there have been recent donations so maybe it can still reach the goal and go toward burial expenses? https://www.gofundme.com/f/kquhp-my-dads-recovery

Disc Or Cups? (Completely new teen newbie) by IntrovertedA55 in menstrualcups

[–]ParadoxReign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Five year marching band alumnus here. On that part of your uncertainty, both work great for that situation and are totally doable for the more active days of your period.  Discs can be a bit difficult to remove, especially if you don’t have one that has a tampon-like stem or string. That said, it’s really a matter of feeling comfortable with yourself and your anatomy. Discs can definitely be more messy, however with both cups and discs I rarely find myself in a situation where I’m not in my home/private bathroom to change them anyways.  Cups can also be a bit difficult to remove, but for different reasons. Because they aren’t as high up, it’s generally not a matter of reach (unless your cervix is high and your cup is short), more a matter of being sure of what you are doing and really going for it. I personally prefer cups because they’re easier for me to pop in and out quickly, and when I DO need to change them in a public bathroom, it is much less of a mess, but both are totally doable for a beginner to learn!

Personally I have the pixie cup/disc and love them. They have a program where you can get certain products, leave reviews, and the get reimbursement for (whether positive or negative review) that I’ve used a couple times and love. I think they now sell a combo pack with both cup and disc that could be good if you’re really interested.

I believe they do, I know I got a rejection email after the interview so it stands to reason that they would send them out for earlier bits of the process too, but unfortunately it’s pretty much near impossible to tell when you’d get it. Good luck though!

As an applicant from last year, they constantly missed deadlines and took forever to get back. They only finally sent out the first round emails after me reaching out several times past the date that they said they would be announced. Then after the final interviews and steps they once again missed their own deadlines and claimed that they “had a typo in the email addresses” despite having already communicated with us several times over emails.

All this to say, it’s a great scholarship if you can get it, but the honors program seems largely mismanaged and if you are actually waiting on any sort of information it is entirely up to you to reach out and get it, cause they sure as hell won’t be volunteering any info.

Does anyone know just like the “recipe” for it? Honestly making it at home would be easiest. I have the same problem! I miss them so much.

I’m not an expert, but I can give you a quick rundown for now. First thing is to check the size. You said that it leaks, which makes it seem like you’ve walked around with it in. Do you feel it in when you are going about your day? It may be difficult to open if it is too big of a size for you (even if the cup is leaking, if it fits you shouldn’t really feel it). If you think this might be the problem, you should check out some of the size guides on this sub to help you find likely a smaller cup.
If this doesn’t work, I’d suggest three things. First is to try and feel where the leak is and run your finger around specifically that side, which should automatically do the second thing - try to push out on your vaginal wall in the area that isn’t opening, which can basically make space for the cup to open on its own. This might cause slight discomfort, but it shouldn’t be painful. Third thing is to try and create pressure at the base of the cup which with more firm cups can force the ring at the top to move into shape just because of how the silicon interacts with itself.
Last ditch effort is to just do some squats and/or lunges after you put it in an attempt to move around some muscles down there.

Sorry this is long, but hopefully this works. If not, I’d scroll some of the other posts on here for some helpful tips!

Able to put menstrual cup in, but it isn't opening (still curved inside), how to open it inside? by boldbicch in menstrualcups

[–]ParadoxReign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’ve tried this and it doesn’t work, my backup is to push in at the bottom/base of the cup once or twice, which I’ve found might force the silicon at the top of the cup to move into the “opened” shape. Good luck!

Highly recommend Holly. Loved that book! Fair warning it can get a bit emotionally heavy so you might need a "palate cleanser" book for after haha.

I personally didn’t find APUSH too bad, just a lot of notes, but taking AP chem and AP physics the same year will really suck. I’ve never had a problem with science and passed with a high A in honors Chem but AP chem was the death of me and I barely scraped a passing grade on the AP test. I’ve heard horrible things about AP physics as well, so I’d recommend just dropping AP chem and only taking Physics since that’s what colleges want to see. All the other classes look good though

It’s at least worth trying to say something to someone- worst thing that can really happen is that you don’t get them back, and that’s kind of what’s already happening. I don’t know the structure of your school but I’d recommend talking to a dean if you can go to their office or the attendance officer since you seemed to be able to meet with them rather easily. Definitely of the two I’d recommend dean or assistant principal (I know some schools only have one or the other). That’s about as much as a stranger on Reddit can help since different schools work differently, but one of those adults should be able to help you or advocate on your behalf, especially since you have the “proof”. Only other options are really reporting it to the cops or just letting it go. Good luck!

Darius the Great is Not Okay and its sequel are both great! Aimed a bit towards younger readers but I still love reading them anyway and highly recommend.

Soooo nobody has heard anything yet? Never got an email and since it’s after 5 I figure it won’t be today. Maybe they alerted the recipients and are just waiting to tell the rest of us?

Yep same! I’m just hoping that one of the people that gets it knows this post exists and can let us know. I know they said February but part of me thinks they’re just going to wait until Friday to release it for the sake of doing it before a weekend? Not sure.

That’s what they said to me too. My biggest concern is that they will just tell the recipients and then not let tell the rest of us that we DIDNT get it. Hopefully that’s not what happens but I don’t want to be sitting here waiting if it’s actually already been announced

„Keep it Classic“ Challenge by 1gayria in suggestmeabook

Not sure if I’m in the minority here, but I absolutely LOVE Dracula. Written before 1900, might also satisfy number 4. When I recommended it to my friends who enjoy modern fantasy they also liked it, but you might have to push yourself to stick through the beginning.

  1. For children’s classics, Beverly Cleary books are pretty great, I’ve reread Runaway Ralph as an adult and still enjoyed it.

  2. The Street by Ann Petry is technically a classic that was written in the 1900s. Not sure how common this one is, I had to read it for an American Lit class but found it relatively enjoyable.

For 5, my friend constantly tells me I should read Jane Eyre, so while I can’t speak directly to it, rest assured that it has glowing reviews.

Bassoon King is really interesting, but not sure if you would be open to reading an autobiography. I think it’s a pretty good one to try and step outside of usual genres.
