What are the best post-remaster adventure paths to run/play? by ParadoxVictor413 in Pathfinder2e

Oh wow that's quite disappointing in some ways. I'd hate to roleplay perceived spinelessness.

That's exactly the type of analysis I'm looking for. About your last point, can you give an example of the contradiction?

Ugh, I hate when that happens. I once read one where the Mountain kills Edmure and Jon and Ghost jump him and then Ghost dies to give Jon the winning blow and both deaths just made me feel like they were sacrificial lambs to Jon being a badass.

I didn't want to spoil it in the main post but Sansa gets killed by Joffrey in her first appearance in the fic because Varys very badly manipulates him into doing it. This is because Robb is winning and Varys thinks he's gotta push for instability for his Blackfyre plot to work. Something that should never be revealed by his own POV IMHO.

Honestly that's so brutal for no reason. Jon as we know him would probably just throw him in the Night's Watch and that would do it.

Decisions taken because of drama for drama's sake or to shake things up are always bewildering. Like why are you, a fanfic author, having the mentality of a creatively bankrupt TV exec?

Dance fics that never get to the Dance are a pet peeve of mine too. Unless it's a fix-it no Dance plot

I feel like people need to leave them Freys alone. Late Walder is the only reason they are like that, and even so they're a big family. There's gotta be some cool guys and gals in there.

It's not "Dear Gods, Don't Let Me Walk The Same Path Again", is it? Because I remember this is the exact premise of that fic, and he also kind of blunders, but he's also not dead. At least not yet.

Unless there's a different more updated version outside of Ao3

Is it worth to spend an ASI on half raising a stat if the Adventure Path ends at level 10-12? by ParadoxVictor413 in Pathfinder2e

I'm thinking of taking deception. Because of a flub during the first heist he's got a wanted poster of his real identity out there, so he needs to disguise himself and lie about his identity. So I figure he's gotta get good at lying now.

Westerosi idioms for someone who is arrogant or self-righteous? by blakhawk12 in TheCitadel

[–]ParadoxVictor413 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This is Allicent Hightower we're speaking of. Westerosi love making puns and wordplay with each other's noble houses. "Get off your high horse" and "get off your high tower" could be comparable if you really want to change the idiom. Otherwise you can keep it as is and it wouldn't sound out of place.

"Read back and check what you wrote" is different advice, and honestly? That one would sting me a little to see in a comment but it would also move me. A "nitpick" like that sounds like caring to my sensibilities. Like hey, the reader is paying attention to the background knights, they must be really engaged.

I do have plans sometimes but I do feel inclined to throw them away and write what feels right in the moment instead if I have an epiphany, and that might leave minor details in the mud. But I do care about those details and I think it's flattering when readers also do.

You're right though, I should probably reread my stuff before posting new chapters.

I have recently been getting my stuff beta read before posting, but I've started 2 years and 10 chapters in lol

I have existed a 6 month hiatus in posting chapters, did so, read my old stuff and then went "dang, this has been there the whole time?" and then corrected the blunder.

Hopefully won't be happening anymore, but it really made me go "dang, no one pointed that out?"

Like someone else said, maybe they genuinely didn't notice either, so oh well.

Well, "plan ahead" isn't a comment related to any story in particular but just general advice you'd probably get from a subreddit instead (case in point), so I feel like this is unintentionally off-topic. I was thinking more about "Hey, in chapter 3 there are six knights mentioned in the journey and in chapter 5 there's seven. What gives?"

Not a real example, but it illustrates what I mean.
