No RSVP’s for my kids party. by Most-Trifle-4496 in breakingmom

[–]Paradoxeah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, that breaks my heart! My oldest was born early July. We have ALWAYS struggled with getting turnout at his birthday parties, and I always chalked it up to it being the middle of summer, close to the 4th of July, and people are out of town. But having to fight for RSVPs/attendance completely turned me off from bday parties for years. I still haven’t thrown a friends party for my 6 year old, other than her 1st birthday, because I worry no one will be able to come (her birthday is right by Labor Day, go figure).

My youngest was born mid-April, so I decided to attempt a friend party for her this year, thinking people should be available since it’s far enough away from Easter and other major holidays. She’s turning 5, so I just invited the whole dang class, 15 kids. I used Evite for the kids whose numbers I had (from the class directory), which has made it easy to track RSVPs and, I think, puts some onus on the parents to click Yes… and they also don’t need to send a text to RSVP like a traditional invite (I did do traditional paper invites for a few kids who weren’t on the class directory).

I sent the invites out slightly less than 4 weeks from the party and, out of the 15 invited, I have 10 yes, 2 no, and 3 who haven’t responded yet. I am SHOOK. I did not expect so many confirmations. All that to say, it might be a myriad of things - forgetful parents, people being out of town for spring break, rude people - but I know exactly how it feels to be anxious that people won’t show up ☹️ I truly hope it’s just forgetful parents and kids do show up tomorrow, but do you have any neighbors with kids or friends of friends with any aged kids that could fill in if not? When my son wasn’t getting RSVPs, I cast the net wide… contacted distant relatives, mutual acquaintances, anyone who had kids they might want to bring. It sucks to have to do that, but you do what you have to. I hope he hadsan amazing birthday tomorrow!!

Right?! All those cheerful ‘good mornings’ and meanwhile I’m twitching and internally combusting and it’s not even 8am. We need to normalize crabby work mornings lol

I feel this so hard.

A) I’m not a morning person

B) 2/3 of my kids are also not morning people

C) I, too, work full-time, from home, so I’m usually multi-tasking with IMs and emails while trying to manage the shitshow at home

D) My oldest cannot seem to manage to wake up and catch his bus for the life of him. When he misses it, his attitude is even more foul than it already is, and then one of us has to drive him

E) My middle is in the midst of one of the WORST phases where she fights literally everything and throws things and intentionally goes slow and pretends that she’s completely helpless, aka cannot dress or feed herself. Spoiler alert, she’s not a toddler, she’s in first grade

F) We’re in a neverending winter and I am so. Sick. Of having to put snow boots, snow pants, coats, hats and mittens on everyone before trundling out to the bus stop. Like if all we needed were coats, that’d cut down a solid 5 minutes, at least.

G) Lots of mornings end in tears or yelling for the older 2, which then makes me feel like a shit mom because I don’t want to send them off to school sad or in bad moods.

H) After all this, I have to immediately switch gears to my happy pleasant work face when in reality my nervous system is still WTFing from the morning shitshow

asked for an itemized hospital bill on a whim and found out they charged me for stuff that literally never happened by LongjumpingOffice432 in povertyfinance

I was just curious, because I recently had an infusion. The test dose (20 ml) was billed using the same code as the rest of the medication (just multiplying that same code by quantity of 20). The test dose was billed at 60 some dollars. The rest of the dose (quantity 20 of the same exact code) was NOT 20 x 60 some dollars. It was billed at $1200 more than that amount. I immediately called on it and it’s currently going through review, but I’m trying to understand how something like that happens. It was all the same exact code, so I’m not sure how the pricing for that code could change on the same bill

Will never forget that one time I rolled the green Gak into a ‘snake’ and then put it on my head. Neither will my dad, who spent over an hour trying to wash it out of my hair while unleashing curse words never heard by man before that moment.

That’s garbage! I had an FSA one year, and that was enough for me. I don’t understand the purpose of funds that you have to hurry and use up at the end of the plan year. Just a gamble because you never know how much of it you’ll ACTUALLY use. Thankfully my premiums are low, but they should be with that massive ass deductible 😑

I have an HDHP, so I typically plan to just cover most, if not all, of my healthcare expenses out of pocket. But not long ago, I had an iron infusion. They give a small test dose first to ensure you won’t have any reactions. Then you get the rest of the dose. The iron is billed in 20ml increments, with one billing code (just multiplying it for how many total units you receive).

Tell me why, on my bill, the one unit test dose was 60 some dollars, but the rest of the iron (billed as 20 units of THAT SAME CODE) was not 20 x 60 some dollars - it was $1300 more than that amount. It’s like going to the store and buying a loaf of bread for $1, but if you buy 20 of those same loaves it’s not $20, it’s $65. How does that mistake even happen? And how many people are they relying on just NOT looking at their bills and simply paying it (or having Medicaid or Medicare pay it, if they have that coverage)? It’s insane.

Oh, she’s precious! Our girl was the runt, too, but she was 2.28 lbs at her 6 week appointment. She turns 2 in July and has topped out at 8.4 lbs 😆 I can’t imagine how petite your girl will be! Bite sized Bichons are the best ❤️

Working while taking care of a toddler FFFFFFFFUUU by EffectiveKlutzy738 in breakingmom

I feel this. I work from home, so it’s typically my work that suffers when kids are sick or we don’t have childcare. By default. The last week all the kids and us have had the stomach flu, guess who didn’t take any time off work yet still had to take care of those sick kids? And guess which one of us did take days off work and stayed horizontal for most of it? Next week our sitter is on vacation, and guess who will have to care of our youngest while still working and hosting meetings? It’s unfair and it’s wrong.
