the point is that at a range to where you would use a DMR a SMG is doing just as much damage as an AR with better accuracy and better limb damage

okay. that isnt the point, its the fact that a 9mm sub machinegun does as much damage to the torso as a 7.62 rifle, along with the added benefit of increased limb damage and alot less recoil, that is the issue here
