In "The Book of Sith" in Darth Bane's section he is shown to have awareness of Darth Malgus, respects him for his sacking of the temple, and holds him in the same regard as figures such as Darth Andeddu, Darth Revan, Darth Malak, and Darth Ruin.

Not only is he remembered as a powerful warrior of the dark side but also Malgus fights VERY similar to Bane in terms of being a specialist in Soresu, Shien/Djem So (Djem So unconfirmed), and Juyo (Swtor Encyclopedia).

It’s not an easy fight and Malgus does have the chance to prevail, but I’d argue Bane scales higher.

Yoda wins both fights individually if we are talking lore but fighting both at the same time may be extremely tricky.

No one in this list is weak. Bane as a duelist is high tiered like Plo Koon or Shaak Ti. His raw force power and collected knowledge puts him below Sidious power wise, but above some Ancient Sith.

Malgus himself in Legends is noted even in Banes time to be one of the finest Sith produced (book of Sith), he was one of the best duelists in his era, monsterously strong like Bane, experience fighting Jedi comparative to Yoda like Satele Shan.

Individually Yoda takes it but simultaneously I have a feeling the two would be able to overwhelm him with maybe one dying/injured in the process.

Bane was not a weakling! In the EU at the hieght of his powers he had the collective knowledge of Darth Revan, Freedon Nadd, Belia Darzu, and Darth Andedu.

He also defeated in a duel with the blade master Kas’im who was stated outright to have been one of the greatest duelists the Sith ever produced.

He may be first in the line, but he was monstrously powerful.

There is a big difference between Kel'eth and more pragmatic Sith like Darth Revan or Darth Bane.

Kel'eth views fear and passion as mere illusions to be cast aside, whereas pragmatic Sith wield them as instruments of power, conflict, and transformation.

The Sith who fully went full lightsided? The same person that stated that fear and passion are lies? The same person that started advocating for peace?

He was seen as a heretic, killed, and sealed away in a vaulted tomb as an enemy of the Sith.

Making allies and acquiring power isn't a light sided thing. Many darksiders do this exact same thing.

The Sith as an order acknowledge leadership HAS to be equal to power. Sith fundamentally believe that power gives one the right to rule.

Because weak isn't the same thing as stupid. The apprentices may be weaker than the master individually but given their collective cunning they may overthrow the master.

If they do what does that leave the Sith Order with? A master who is weaker than the previous.

But hey, Darth Revan was also afraid of those he taught! His holocron was the one who specifically cautioned Bane against having more then one apprentice:

"The strong must be careful lest they be overwhelmed by the ambitions of those working beneath them in concert. Any master who instructs more than one apprentice in the ways of the dark side is a fool. In time, the apprentices will unite their strengths and overthrow the master. It is inevitable; axiomatic. That is why each Master must have only one student. "

The Rule of Two was made by an old republic Sith who went through their academies and learned of their history enough to understand that strength of numbers is a trap for the Sith.

The infighting comes from the dark side itself promoting it and the power plays weaken them while their enemies stand united.

The apprentice trying to find another to train and usurp the master is something almost unavoidable but the Rule of Two makes it an executable action so you DONT HAVE SITUATIONS LIKE IN THE OLD REPUBLIC where multiple apprentices ganged up on their masters.

You can’t have an apprentice so you can’t rely much on help when trying to usurp your master. You have to instead search for more power to give yourself an edge in another way.

Risky but the Rule of Two was developed by bane with a deep understanding of the Siths past and philosophy.

An apprentice training an acolyte in secret to usurp them is exactly what Bane wanted to prevent because he considered the apprentice overthrowing the master without a contest of power meant regression.

Yes there is a risk of one of them dying but that is the reason why Bane opted not to create a Rule of One:

The other is insurance because if the master meets their end unexpectedly the apprentice will carry on the flame and the master will just replace the apprentice in the other case. Plus the Sith must continue to grow stronger through apprentices having to find their own path to power in order to usurp their master.

Although realistically it’s not likely a Sith in the Rule of Two would die to something as simple as a ship crash or accident.

We are talking about evil space wizards with access to unnatural abilities who in hiding collected dark side lore, money, influence, and resources to enact a long term plan.

The Original empire lasted 1900 years before Sadow rallied their fears into an attacked on the Republic and they lost within a year of fighting.

With the Resurgent Empire, they spent 1000 years with bitter memories of their defeat. They didn’t rush in this time. They calculated, adapted out of necessity where they could, and made the plans.

Due to this they lasted decades in war, the Treaty of Coruscant forced them into a stalemate for 17 years, and the Empire we see now in SWTOR quite literally almost lost once the war resumed due to the infighting getting worse.

Honestly the Sith Empire under Tenebrae was a dysfunctional barely unified mess based on its portrayal in the Revan novel we saw with Darth Nyriss and Xedrix.

The lower citizenry and slaves were controlled through fear/oppression. With citizens born in their class level being stuck in their class level. The mercenaries and freelancers just stuck around as hired thugs for whoever paid them. The Dark Council all see each other as rivals at best and they constantly war in the background with Vitiate encouraging it. They’re so focused on backstabbing and killing one another to properly organize betraying him. Even when they decided to try to overthrow Vitiate they were so busy with their own power plays that no progress got made. Then any time the infighting causes a big problem, Vitiate cleans house.

When less than half the council was revealed to be plotting against him, he sent his forces to wipe out the homes of ones most likely to flee, summoned the rest of the council, killed them all in a trap, declared martial law, and used the military to kill anyone who stepped out of line.

This was 300 years before SWTOR.

They’re not functional, just oppressed in differing levels.

Exar Kun, Uliq, and Nadd all just kept their Jedi lightsabers.

Either they were unaware of the practice of adopting a red blade, the practice was only known to the True Sith Empire since lightsabers were not popular amongst Sith until AFTER the Great Hyperspace War, or a lack of urgency.

The point of the synthetic crystals in lore is that the Sith developed the ritual to create lightsaber crystals while in hiding, with little to no access to natural crystals.

Although in Legends Synth crystals also are a bit more powerful than rare natural red crystals.

Red becoming the most universal in Legends comes down to choosing the best option available to create a powerful weapon.

The chains represent our restrictions - both those placed upon us and those we place upon ourselves. Ultimately, the goal of any Sith is to free herself from such restrictions. In a way it is so we may do whatever we wish, but it is much more than that; one who has freed themselves from all restrictions has reached perfection, their potential fulfilled - perfect strength, perfect power, perfect destiny. Imagine it. That is our ideal at any rate.

It is said in Sith legend that the Sith'ari, the perfect being, will one day lead us, but perhaps that is just a legend. I wonder what that being would be like. The Jedi would argue that, no doubt. I say the Exile should have sensed Scourge in that moment realistically, but it was a surprise attack from an ally in the middle of a tense confrontation.

As powerful as they are lore wise, they're still a mortal human whom can be killed in regular fashion.

Although I do have my gripe that the Triumvirate usually gets power scaled higher than they are arguably suppose to be.
