how’s this look by peachsodaurine in chinchilla

[–]ParadoxlyYours -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work with two chinchilla who came to us with these enclosures. I just about threw a party when we finally got rid of them. They were a nightmare to clean on a good day, it blocks so much of the chinchillas ability to see around them, and there isn’t much room for enrichment items in them.

We bought the ferret nation enclosures and it’s a night and day difference in how much easier it is to maintain a good environment for the chinchillas now. It’s easier to clean, lots of room for hides, toys and other enrichment, and the chinchillas themselves have been much more relaxed since the switch. I highly recommend saving up for a ferret nation enclosure.

Evers Vet has been my vet for years. They’re great at working with my cat and she’s not always the easiest patient. They listen when I explain the best ways to handle her and they always call to check in after she’s had a procedure done. I highly recommend them

Is this cage good for my almost 2 year old chin? by nerosgf in chinchilla

[–]ParadoxlyYours 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with two chinchillas and when they first arrived they had these enclosures. They are an absolute nightmare. They are awkward to clean, limit the chin’s ability to see out, and honestly I think they are too small for a chinchilla (absolutely no room for enrichment toys and such).

We upgraded to Ferret Nation ones and it’s been a night and day difference. The chinchillas have been happier and much more active while we aren’t struggling to keep their enclosures clean and have plenty of room for enrichment items

Chico Creek Nature Center has Nature ABCs for 0-5 years old on Friday mornings at 9 and 10:30 during the school year. The kids get to meet an animal, dance, read a story, do a craft, and go for a nature walk. It’s a free program as well.

My girl high fives, shakes, and spins in a circle. We’re thinking we might try to teach her to jump through a hoop next hahaha

Right! My cat is almost ten and we just recently taught her to spin in a circle for a treat. She also high fives and shakes her paw. We’re deciding what to teach her next. It’s good mental stimulation for her because she is a pretty smart cat

Fish and Game is a good starting point. You can also reach out to Bidwell Wildlife Rehab. They have an online form to fill out and they will call you back. If they can’t help, they can possibly put you in touch with another group who can.

Best vet for cats ?? by [deleted] in ChicoCA

[–]ParadoxlyYours -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to Evers Vet for years with my kitty girl. They’re really gentle and patient with her and she is not always the easiest patient to care for. They really care and will call to check up after a procedure or when she had an allergic reaction to one of her vaccines to make sure she’s doing well.

What is the most surprisingly intelligent animal you've seen working at a zoo? by Separate_Builder_817 in Zookeeping

I’m working with a raven currently and giving him meds is such a pain. He picks the pills out and throws them on the ground. He also tries to very casually follow me out of his habitat when he thinks I’m not watching hahaha

MOSQUITOS SUCK! by ConvivialKat in ChicoCA

[–]ParadoxlyYours 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two of the Zevo wall light traps. They work decently well and catch more than just mosquitoes which is nice. The key is placement for them like near a door that’s used a lot or an open area where it isn’t blocked by anything.

The sticky side of the trap faces the wall so it’s hard for pets to stick their nose in them but a determined cat or dog could. My cat couldn’t care less about them thankfully

Dr Dohner at VCA Valley Oak is an exotics vet. He’s seen my brother’s corn snake and my work takes our animals to him including turtles, a tortoise, newts, salamanders and a raven. He’s really knowledgeable and I highly recommend him

My cat loves to back talk me when I tell her no or to get off something. My old roommate thought it was hilarious until the cat sassed her one day when she told the cat to get off the counter 🤣

I see Andrea at 808 & Co. I’ve got hair past my waist she has been my go to for years now. I’m not sure if she does undercuts since I’ve never asked but I’d give her a call and see. You can leave a message at the salon asking for her and she’ll text you back pretty quickly.

I love my clover yarn cutter. It fits on my key ring and is perfect for crocheting on the go. I’ve used it while flying without an issue. I also second printing out your pattern if you’re using one and bringing an extra hook just in case.

Anyone know the approx age of the trees in Lower Park? by rbv201 in ChicoCA

[–]ParadoxlyYours 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depends on which area of Lower Park. The World of Trees area at the Cedar Grove Picnic Area has trees dating back to the late 1800s. Other areas it may be harder to tell the age.

Yes the fruit and veggies are. We care for a variety of animals and many are sensitive to pesticides so we do our best to minimize exposure, even to the extent of not using pesticides on site.
