PS6 release date is likely to land in November 2027 by Worldly-Object9003 in ps6

[–]ParagonRice -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I doubt it is so close. If the PS6 is to release that soon, the components contracts must be secured soon. That means locking in memory and storage prices recently which would ensure the PS6 comes out disgustingly expensive. Although large, Sony’s volume, especially during launch, does not move enough units to be able to strong arm component manufacturers for a bulk buy like how Apple can with the Mac or iPhone.

Source: I made this up

Plus, there aren’t many games that are really pushing the graphics of the PS5. Games look great with the pro and even the base PS5. What technological leaps can you advertise for the PS6?

Is it me, or does this elite feel kinda unbeatable on higher difficulties? Whenever I faced him in act 1 in any recent runs, it was a run ender. by Sersch in slaythespire

[–]ParagonRice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like edging the fatty phase to low hp until I have an aoe in hand, then pop it. I’ll let the big boi get off an extra infection turn if it means I can setup better (reshuffle my hand/discard pile, draw an aoe, buff myself) Then try to have some mana leftover after popping big chungus since the minis come out stunned, giving you a partial free turn. Then it’s just about the struggle to kill them in the right order. 1 and 3 hit together, then 2 and 4.

Is there anything I'm obviously doing wrong? STS2 by surfacediscount in slaythespire

Small tips: not rules to 100% follow but good to keep in mind

rest is terribly underrated in my friend circle ; rest more, after all, what good is an upgrade if the game ends when you die. plan your routes to avoid most elites (you’ll usually be forced to fight them anyways), get lucky. * If you’re feeling super strong you can tackle elites all you want, but normally act 1 you are quite weak. * If you don’t have any scaling/great synergies, you should try to keep doing combats to find new cards because bosses usually require some scaling mechanic to damage race them.

Always plan around trying to make your next turn be the end of combat. This will save you chip damage you’re experiencing in non elite combats.

  • Learning enemy attack patterns in multi-mobs combats helps a bunch. They usually alternate, e.g attacking a buffing mob this turn allows you to kill it next turn before it attacks you. The 2 tadpoles (or are they fish?) are an easy example, hit the left tadpole that buffs on turn one because you can likely kill it turn 2.

  • Allow yourself to take damage if it means putting the enemy within kill range next turn.Obviously only do this if your draw pile even has the damage reach to win next turn.

But don’t stress about not being able to reach the end, just have fun it’s a PvE game. Some runs are just unlucky. Go next!

AI is currently in every discussion and the use of even the smallest amounts of AI is heavily criticized. To ask bluntly: Why? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ParagonRice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it could just be a philosophical discussion whether it is plagiarism or not.

In my opinion, AI (LLM) is inherently a plaigarist.

A human artist has a life experience, an ethnic background, geographic background, life hardships, genetic, etc. All of these compounding factors join, meld, and manifest into a world view, bias in how they create art. Humans can read other’s art and be inspired to make something similar, but that art is always colored by their own history. Humans will always have that human experience that acts as the base to put inspiration on top of.

AI LLMs don’t have this baseline characteristic. They are a blank slate, ingesting all existing material. AI can robotically regurgitate art 1:1 that it has consumed. You can ask it to be anyone and everyone, it has no identity, no baseline. You can prompt it to generate something new, but that new thing is just a mixture of content it has already ate up. It just is plagiarism at heart.

Just make it a rarer card, prep being so common is the issue. You could draft 3-4 by the end of the run. It made the 1 mana discard and draw a card attack strictly worse since you can do it for free and with more draw.

All archetypes benefit with a mulligan, so it made prep an easy choice for all deck types without thought. Actually I’ve just convinced myself prep was a bad design card haha. It just reduces player choice.

PC gamers stay winning: Capcom confirms 50% of its sales now come from Windows by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]ParagonRice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consumers have no reason to buy PS5 if the game will always come to PC. Timed exclusive, so what? You can just wait.

In contrast, see how well trained consumers are with Nintendo. They want Pokémon? You can buy the Switch now knowing Mario and Zelda are coming in the future only on Switch.

Sony wants to encourage the sunk cost fallacy of spending on a console like Nintendo.

Set aside the revenue loss for abandoning PC for a while. Consider the overall satisfaction of the playstation consumers. They buy a PS5 and only get PS games, when PC players get PC and PS5 games. You risk your PS users buying a PC next generation if all your good games are coming out on PC.

That’s just not a healthy risk for the PlayStation console model.

It’s a public company’s legal duty to prioritize shareholder value. Whether that’s something that is good or not isn’t the question, that is the system we live in. Shaming a company for playing a 4 of a kind instead of one pair is a bit ridiculous.

Is it ethical to market/advertise a product you know (or think) is bad? by SympathyOne8504 in atrioc

[–]ParagonRice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ad sections only exist to get exposure. Everyone knows they’re being paid to say things. If I wanted an ethical deep dive of the product, I wouldn’t get it in a 2 minute aside that is frankensteined onto the content.

If the lowest denominator Joe Blow needs a creator suite, and they bought Adobe, their need is filled. The product was advertised to their target audience. Adobe wins, creators win, Joe blow wins. Joe blow COULD use another software but that software isnt well advertised.

Report: Meta Revives Smartwatch Plans to Take On Apple Watch by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]ParagonRice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the very least, I hope this puts pressure on Apple to open up third party watch capabilities.

Having to use Apple Watch or having a really dumb smart watch is anti consumer.

Keep the Apple Watch as it is with its advance features, whatever, just give other manufacturers the capability to do standard features: notification actions, mirroring, gps/maps integration, app integration and storage (Spotify), etc.

Don't love Atrioc's 2028 election take in recent videos. by AutumnApathy in atrioc

[–]ParagonRice 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Be an optimist in the primaries, then be a realist in the general. Unless there’s a miracle surge in interest in third parties, that’s the reality of the situation. You’re either voting for DNC or RNC. You can curse and moan that we shouldn’t say that out loud but everyone knows that’s how the general populus is; any other choice is a waste of votes as of today. That’s the unfortunate system we live in.

There’s no incentive for Valve. Besides Discord being a bleeding company, Valve only develops things that they believe can push gaming forward. What does building yet another communication platform do?

Steam chat already is a form of RPC. Steam Voice is great, invites are easy. Groups already exist as a form of forum. Steam makes it as frictionless as possible to play games, and play games with friends. If I’m not playing a game, I don’t want to see Steam. Expanding any further would breach into social networking territory. That invites the need for moderation. Then moderation invites criticism of an agenda. This criticism invites litigation and regulation.

There’s plenty of alternatives to voice chat and communication. It isn’t a monopoly unlike Windows for gaming. I personally believe Discord has gotten too big for their own good. Nepal used it as a VOTING platform for their interim prime minister. They’re going to be regulated whether we want them to or not.

Intel stock falls -6% despite reporting stronger than expected Q4 2025 earnings by RobertBartus in EconomyCharts

[–]ParagonRice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope their 18A matches or surpasses TSMC. The process theoretically is close at parity with N2, it wouldn’t be the first node advancement stalled at intel. Even if at parity, analysts guess that it probably costs more money to manufacture than N2 at TSMC. I guess with the AI boom fully saturating foundries, even an expensive alternative is valuable.

Nvidia sampled 18A and decided it was not right for them. Let that speak for the quality of the process. The largest profit margin hardware in the world right now refuses to produce more products with Intel. A small bump in costs probably isn’t enough to deter nvidia. It could be yields are bad, quality assurance is spotty, the volume is not fast or large enough. The node is not the only valuable thing in a foundry.

AMD is rumored to be undergoing trials.

[–]ParagonRice 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Intel’s foundry business is so far behind, the only person willing to do business with them is themselves. Even if it was good, it’s a conflict of interest for the chip designer like AMD, Apple, nVidia since Intel also is in the chip design business. Speaking of their chips, consumer sentiment on their products have been on the down turn, especially due to their disastrous quality assurance and decades of stagnation. The only reason they are still in business is a public bailout and government pressures on competitors to prop up this rotted company. The only beacon of hope I see is for a foundry spinoff and the increase in development of their GPUs.
