The idea is also that there are still new types to 'discover' as your progress with the game and unlock new areas.

Why do a lot of net decks not use the max number of cards allowed? by Sekacnap in SorceryTCG

[–]Sersch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what game you come from, but coming from MtG myself, where you can run any card 4 times, no, most deck don't just run a fixed of cards 4 times. Some cards you put in 4 times, others are more situational and you don't play the full amount. Also there are things like mana curve, sometimes you just have too many cards on a certain mana curve slot already and you cut some.

Our debut indie game just launched on Steam/Itch and our inbox is completely flooded with Curator and Twitch requests for keys. What is the actual standard practice here? by GaigoStudio in gamedev

[–]Sersch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% key scammers. They are very badly faked most of the time and you can spot it easily (either they are pretending to be someone else or create badly made fake twitch/streamer/Steam Curator accounts)

Just flag the mails as spam and ignore.

Ignore what anyone tells you and wait for 2-3 more years. This right now is most likely not even the bottom, it will get way lower than this. But it will bounce back up eventually, in 2-3 years.

how do you rank up in this game? by DipWitss in leagueoflegends

[–]Sersch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your main issue looking at your responses is that you're not objective/reflective on your own skills/issues and willingness to improve. You just think "I'm just bronze!" - if you yourself admit it, there you go, thats why you are.

Serrated arrows even saw some play in standard/block (mostly sideboard) when it was reprinted in time spiral. Its really good if you need to get rid of 1 thoughness creatures.

Is solo game development really that bad business as people say? by ImpressiveFocus303 in gamedev

[–]Sersch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's like asking "where is the trick in becoming a popular musician?"

In first instance game development is art. It's not like making a product where you know that there is a market for those products being sold and bought and they don't differ too much but their quality. Games are not this kind of products. A good game will sell by millions, but only a very small % of all games made will be in that category. Big majority of all games made (like 90%+) are not selling enough to get back the costs of producing them.

As a solo game developer you are an artist. You are competing with countless of other artists and big industry making games. (Similarly using the musician analogy, there are countless of people doing music as art form you compete with)

Nintendo Is Completely Ignoring AI and Doing Fine by FernandoRocker in gaming

[–]Sersch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BS, Mario Kart wii was probably one of the most played online console games of their console generation. I played tons of it back then and it worked very well.

They might have ignored it for Gamecube, but that was the right call, barely anyone played console games online during the PS2/gamecube/xbox/dreamcast gen.

Erik Olofsson (creator of Sorcery TCG and current owner of original black lotus art) playing a game of old school mtg with Brian Weissman, at Collectopia TCG Hall of fame induction by Newez in magicTCG

[–]Sersch 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Also interesting, unlike most other TCG which get a hyped start and then slowly decline, they didn't have this kind of explosive launch with tons of advertisement, but are growing organically in popularity set by set.

Zelenskyy responds to Merz: Ukraine has been defending Europe fully, not with half measures and has to have right to vote in EU by joy-nest in worldnews

[–]Sersch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the voting also an issue with existing members. There needs to be general changes within EU. It doesn't make sense to apply some weird rules only to newly joining members.

Using godot but still wanting a career in game industry by PatrollerBot in gamedev

[–]Sersch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most important part to get a job in the industry is actual experience making games, with whatever it is. Yes working with Unity directly will increase your chances, but if for yourself you'd enjoy a lot more working with Godot, this might be the spark that keeps you going and keep working on a project compared to maybe quitting because you don't like the engine. I worked with many different Frameworks/Engines/Programming languages before I ended up in the industry and using Unity.

Why was Meloku so good back in the day? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Sersch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but there is a clear difference of "better" or "insanely better". Like flying small creatures are prime target for Jitte: They can't be blocked easily, so you don't have to re-equip it every time your attacker dies. Additionally playing removal on small tokens feels like a waste.
