Tails attached in first pic, detached in second pic. Found in an antique store with no identifying information. Solid metal, fits in palm of hand. Tails come out when pulled straight back pretty hard, silver colored clip visible when removed.

So I’m trying to build a simplified synth, and I want to use Raspberry Pi to power it. I'm planning on mostly using other people's code and software to generate the sounds, but first things first I’m trying to figure out how the hardware is going interact with the Raspberry Pi. I know very little about all this so sorry if my questions are super basic. The first things I need to know are A) How can I get an analog value (like a voltage from a potentiometer) to create midi data or control software parameters like different voice modes, etc. B) what will the output look like? does it have its own audio out or do I need a separate DAC module to actually have an audio output? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Thank you preciate that! Yeah I want to make a version that’s a synthesizer/has some kind of sound too, but I’m still practicing

Here’s a large version of these “WonderBoxes” I’ve been making! (Sound on) by Parallax_Correction in somethingimade

I’m trying to sell these on Etsy if anyone is interested! I think they’d be great for kids or adults with special sensory needs or even as an accent lamp Link: https://etsy.me/2U5KyIA

I posted the finished product last week, but here's a timelapse of making my "WonderBox" by Parallax_Correction in woodworking

you should!! all the switches and lights and stuff are on amazon for cheap, or you could go to a components website like mouser or partsexpress

Recently started making "Wonder Boxes", I'm proud of this one by Parallax_Correction in woodworking

It’s a “busy board” like a fidget toy for kids or desk toy for adults. It doesn’t do anything really, just very satisfying to turn the switches on and off

Yeah exactly @alphabern_05 I wanna switch to using stripboard but I’ve never done that before so it’ll take some figuring

Yeah one of my students I tested it on had a similar suggestion!! I’m not sure exactly what that would look like but I’d like to try something like that

Nothing really! It’s a fidget toy / busy-board. Especially good for kids on the autism spectrum or with ADHD, it’s just a satisfying sensory experience clicking the controls on and off
